It is interesting how certain members of the conservative party are being "hidden" so to speak, but my greatest concern does not rest with that.

It revolves around the notion that Mr. Harper and his party have expressed interest in tagging along with Bush on his foreign policy adventures.

I don't have the steel will to hear of young Canadian men having their blood spilled for foolish reasons.

I realize that. Actually, I don't think any of them give a rats ass about the Maritimes. But, I left there myself so I guess I'm no better.

Not necessarily worried about Harper or the hidden agenda...I am worried about the known agenda...where Harper really worries me is on how he will represent Canada on the international front - is he strong enough to stand up to the US or China when needed?

I'm of the thinking that people get into politics because they have a hidden agenda. There's a reason they crave power. They want to implement policies that benefit them, and spin doctor it into a claim that it benefits everyone. Frankly I don't trust anyone in the political game anymore. Yes I think Harper has things he wants to do that I don't like. But I also think Martin and Leyton are just as guilty of the same thing. At least in the debate Harper admitted that when you're trying to win an election you can't appeal to everyone, and that you develop a platform to get you votes and after that you look to work with the other parties. Still I think a Conservative minority government will only result in us being at the polls again in another 6 to 9 months. I really don't care who wins, I just want someone to get a majority so there can be some stability in this country. I'm sick of elections.

I'm not afraid of Harper having a hidden agenda, I think he's genuine in his desire to have the Conservatives be a moderate party. I am definitely afraid of the evangelical base that he refuses to oust from the party. I don't see the conservatives ever being a moderate party as long as Harper continues to allow them not only a place but a strong voice in the party.

For that reason I won't vote for the conservatives.

A damn good reason to support the Conservatives, and fight for the EEE Senate. Until then, Canada truely only has two provinces.

The fiscal policies scare me the most. I fear drastic reductions in spending on post-secondary education, health, and programs for the poor to pay for the tax cuts.

I am concerned that because of the influence of many of the old PC's and the likelyhood of a minority government that these cuts won't go far enough.

I was just reading a poll that actually showed Canadians are more concerned of Martin's "hidden Agenda" or something like: who is more likly to have a hidden agenda

If he means cut government I'd agree with him. No need for so much bureaucracy.

Plus, there's all the waste that could be cut... Lots of room!

No I am not scared of Haper or teh Conservative Party.

The Liberals ahve jsut as many members who are against Abortion and Guy marriage as the Conservatives. Exception is teh Liberals were much better at keeping there guys muzzled which is a lesson the Conservatives learned from them.

There is no way in hell any PM would be allowed to get away with taking away a womens right to choose or taking away guy marriage. Martin is the only idiot talking about it.

I think the Conservatives tax cuts woudl help out the poor a hell of alot more than people think. Everyone in the end has to buy new close, dishes, or a new used car, repairs on junky old cars and whatnot. All these things have a GST on it.

But I strongly strongly feel the the Leaf/Liberal (I think there the same people with the same mindset) supporters will re-elect the Liberals who will possibly surprise with a Majority. Im form Ontario I see these guys around here and all they talk about is how they dont like Martin but they cant turn there backs on a good Liberal party.

I fear the re-election is gonan create a new referendum in Quebec and a creation of some type of seperatist party for the west. Not to mention a new Aborignal party has jsut started this year and it may take on the same type of role as the Bloc except without the want to serperate.

bottom line dont even worry about a Conservative gov b/c the people in control of Canada would never allow it.

Long live the Dictatorship of the Liberals. And god bless Ontario for keeping us safe from ourselves.

After what the Liberals did in the 90s, I dont think there is much left to cut, especially in health care.

I am for cutting back and reforming programs such as welfare and EI. I think that there are far too many people who are unneccesarily on these programs and I am tired of giving money to them. For those that legitamitly need hlep I am okay with helping but I think that now we give way too much money away in these types of programs I would rather keep my money and decide who I feel needs it than continue giving it away as we do now.

If that makes me a bad person I'm okay with that.

I agree with you. The Liberals shamefully cut social programs when they instituted the common welfare and health transfer in 1997?

yes.

i'm not sure if there is any hidden agenda, i'm more worried about the similarities between Harpers platform and policies to the american government. i fear a Harper government may allow more 'americanization' of our country. yes, we are very dependant on our southerly neighbours, but they soon will be more dependant on us as their thirst for energy heightens.

if you really want to 'stand up for canada' don't let the conservatives 'roll over' to american demands.

Yep. Although if I was a woman, I'd be more scared about possibly becoming a second-class citizen. Or if I was gay, I'd be worried about becoming a second-class citizen. Or if I was first nations, I'd be worried about becoming a second-class citizen. I mean, I'm a white heterosexual male, so I guess I'm just scared about Church and State merging.
