Most outrageous food pricing
from the NE business thread.
What's the most outrageously priced food item?
This afternoon I bought a crepe for $10.. $10! at Crepe Delicious! and a drink that made it $12. $12 for lunch! for a crepe! I'm not going back there again.

Lots of things can be overpriced. People buy ice cream. A bin of 12 L can cost as low as $18.99 yet people will still buy it for a few bucks a scoop or two.
I have known a few people who have owned franchise or independent pizza joints. A pizza can cost you less than $3 to make for them. People still buy the stuff.
The only thing some people don't think of is that if these owners charged a lot less in certain businesses, thwey wouldn't be in business.....

You can't top airport pricing. They have a captive audience there.

I regularly pay $12 for a chopped salad at lunch. It's delicious and packed with chicken, avocado, eggs etc. but every time I go to pay I feel like an idiot.

Pop at the movie theatre... probably costs them 10-20 cents for the cup and the pop, then they charge $5.

In New York.
As mentioned in the NE thread, Greek food is way overpriced - thank Jebus for the Lebs offering the same (but better) stuff for 1/2 the price.
Sushi in this city is ridiculous.

Also, cheese is way more expensive here than most other countries.

Sushi is pretty reasonable considering there is no ocean next to us. I had 3 pieces of bluefin tuna from shikiji the other day for $10. Pretty sure it's the same price of more in Vancouver.

Those trendy cupcake and ice cream places. A dixie cup worth of ice cream for $5, or 12 tiny cupcakes for $15ish.. Honorable mention goes to any food purchased at a sporting event.
