i have now been to five guys twice - my impression is that it is above average.
the fries are outstanding and i wish more places could serve them like that.
i would rate my burger as bland. perhaps it was my selection of toppings (i like tomato, extra pickles, mayo & bbq sauce), but the last half of the bun was a little soggy by the time i got around to eating it. i also need to read the menu a little closer, but i need to figure out how to only order a burger with one patty, as both times i inadvertently ordered something with two patties.
Anyways, the wife and i went, we each had a burger, drink and shared fries and the bill was almost $25......we could have had a couple of cupckaes/organic donuts for that much.....
i guess i'd go back, but i'd walk, not run to get there.......

The regular burgers are double burgers, the mini burger is a single.

I'd say the mini burger was much more satisfying than the double since you could eat the burger and all the toppings at once rather than dislocate your jaw to bite it. Although i alawys seem to load up on everything.
The thing i like most is how fresh and generous the tomatoes / pickles / lettuce onions seem compared to most other places i've been. even a bruger at like moxies seems to have a pretty thin tomatoes and lettuce.... mind you the talent working at moxies is much more appealing.

Even the jalapeños are fresh, not the pickled version you get everywhere else. That kind of surprised me.

Any news on when they might open another location in Calgary 1 is not near enough. Ikea is to far to drive for a good burger.

I agree. Harvey's is great.
After reading most of this thread I have to try this place. I do like a good burger.

Reading this thread is making my mouth water...I'm fairly certain Halifax doesn't have one.
I officially miss Calgary now.

Just had Five Guys down in the US, and I now notice there is one thing missing up here: fresh brewed iced tea. I ordered my burger with cajun fries and went over to the beverage area and had my choice of 4 different fresh brewed teas to put on ice. The iced green with lemon was an amazing complement to the meal. (I still had a splash of coke after to fight the grease a bit)

I had Five Guys in Missoula last week. The burger was very good, the regular fries were very good, but I was not impressed by the Cajun fries at all. I'm not sure if there was too much flavor, or if there's just too much cayenne or what exactly I didn't like about them. I know Cajun, and those fries didn't seem "Cajun" to me at all. I doubt I'll order them again.
I took my son to Fatburger in Seattle yesterday, the burger was very good, as well. I never thought I'd say this, but it was perhaps a but too greasy... The fries were great, you have your choice of steak fries, or regular size french fries.
If I had to choose between burgers only, Five Guys is the winner by a nose.

Not sure if this is 100% true but most places in Canada don't do a brewed Iced Tea like the States. All of ours are just sugary pop.

That's weird because the one time I had Fatburger up here I thought it was way too lean. I remember because my brother and I were talking about how the name was a total misnomer. We never went back.

Yeah, I've never seen it up here. At Five Guys, it's a total miss by not bringing it up. Heck Fuddruckers and BK do it in the US.

Fatburger is quite greasy down in the US. I've had a few in different places in OC and they've been like that since Michael Jordon took over.

which is why i hate our ice tea, i wish we would follow the State's lead on this one. any ice tea you get in a restaurant or can here is just too damn sweet. the best i've found is the Tetley pre-made stuff you can buy at Safeway. it has about 1/3 of the sugar that Nestea does, but even then i'd still prefer something with zero sugar. i've tried brewing my own but it's just to big of a pain in the ass
