Flames got their backup goalie in Michael Leighton and a decent dman in Paul Mara.
Looks like the Blues really cashed in this time!

Preds were shut out, but really just don't have the cap to compete with the fair asking prices at this point!

Very excited to sign both Betts and Kostopolous. Although I think I overpaid for their services, they were the two players I was circling since the beginning of free agency. I've decided on a new blueprint towards building my team and these two players along with Gomez really represent that
I really wanted a solid realistic fourth line rather then the enforcer type of lines I used to employ
Kostopolous / Betts / Jackman
Hopefully I can work this line up to the 3rd to increase it's ice-time over the course of the year... if it can achieve some success.

Jackets are happy to get Rivet who slots in as the #6 dman at a very reasonable price....I hope he doesn't retire...but at 600K we can live with it.

Well we struck out but definitely were not willing to give the $ and term that our targeted players ended up receiving. Overall I think the Blues were the winners in this batch, which makes me happy because Curtis is gonna need that help big time!

I put in offers on both of these guys (although too cheap, obviously!). I had Kostopoulos last year and he was awesome for me. I loved having that solid defensive guy, and was hoping to keep him around. I just couldn't justify the grid deal, although again maybe that was being too cheap as well!

Kings struck out as well, very glad I didn't pay some of the prices in batch 3.

went 1/7 on our bids, not really close on our targeted forwards
yippee on Sopel I guess- considered a play on him or Rivet but wasn't sure on Rivet's intentions for this year. CBJ got a bargain on him if he plays. still I guess Sopel slots in as our number 6 for much cheaper than Mark Eaton, our blueline is complete now. lots of holes on F but several will be filled internally

I've personally gone 1/10 through the three batches and it's interesting to see that many folks do have the same salary in mind. It's usually the term or AHL% that makes the difference in the end.

Happy to get Huet as I really needed a backup that I could fit in my cap space. But I would suggest the Wild probably have the worst overall goaltending in the league. My intention is to start the year with the Schneider/Huet combo and see if my team is good enough in other ways.
The Big 3 are going to have to score buttloads of goals it would seem.
