Opinions on an autographed stick
Okay, here's the story. I got a stick off of my old boss about 10-12 years ago. This guy was super rich and was having a garage sale, most of the stuff he was selling was nicer than what most people consider their keeper stuff. Anyway, I stopped in to say hello and noticed that he was selling some sports stuff including a signed flames stick.
He claimed that he bought it a long time ago (guessed very early 90's) at a charity auction. He told me that when he bought it they said it was a game used MacInnis stick from 88-89. I have no reason not to believe what he said, the guy was a multi millionaire and he went to charity auctions lots of times. At the time I wasn't making a ton of money but he could tell I liked it so he told me I could have it for $40.00, he didn't remember (or care) what he paid for it.
It has been sitting in a spare closet for the last decade but the memorabilia thread in the other forum reminded me of it so I pulled it out to take a look. Some of the names don't seem to jive on the stick. For starters there are autographs from Neil Sheehy and what appears to be Yves Corteau? Also the name on the stick says "MCINNIS". I'm guessing that it is a game used MacInnis stick and someone got it autographed at some sort of Flames Alumni event.
Any opinions?
Any thoughts on value?

Without a certificate of authenticity, I can't see it being worth too much..maybe a few hundred?

Based on the model, and the autographs, I would peg it in the 86 to 88 range. I would have to check photos to be sure, but I believe MacInnis switched to a Sherwood in 88/89.
Would have to check rosters to verify, but I see Hull, Mullen, Tonelli, McDonald, Vernon, Quinn autographs, which suggests 86 to 88.

I don't mean to poo-poo, by the way. It looks like an old stick, the autographs look real and bla bla bla. There ain't no pictures of Maerty on the internet using that old school Canadien stick either. There are pictures of Al Macinnis using one though.
But there was a guy on the Flames who spelled his name that way though.

Looks like it's the 1985-86 roster. That was Mike Eaves' last season and Brett Hull's first.
Hull joined the team during the playoffs and Tonelli was acquired at the deadline, so it was likely signed either during the playoffs, or shortly after the Finals.

Identities, as far as I can tell (they all seem to line up with the 1986 Finals roster)...
Hakan Loob
Brett Hull, John Tonelli
?, Carey Wilson
Robin Bartell (only played with the Flames in 85-86)
Allan MacInnis?, Perry Berezan, Paul Baxter
?, Lanny McDonald
?, Danny Quinn
Colin Patterson, Neil Sheehy
Gary Suter?, Paul Reinhart
Jim Peplinski, Mike Eaves
Terry Johnson, Yves Courteau
Joel Otto, Mike Vernon
Joe Mullen, Bearcat

^ Good work man. I think you got it.
As for the missing autographs:
Jamie Macoun (and Carey Wilson)
Correct with MacInnis and Suter
Reggie Lemelin (and Lanny)
I'm going to guess Marc D'Amour in the photo with Quinn

I would say it's kind of a jerk move. Just sign the thing and move on. No need to get all preachy about it. No one really cares what hockey players think.

It would be worth more if it was used to make a bench or chair.....

The 86 roster seems to make more sense, especially since a few of the players only played around then. I wonder why someone would write 1988 on it? The 86 season wasn't exactly chopped liver.

I can't imagine why the 86 Flames would sign Marty McInnis's stick.

I learned something new today about my childhood hero. I had never, EVER associated Al MacInnis with anything other than a Sherwood (up until Alum & Comp sticks, of course).

1981 Memorial Cup.....Sherwood.

1986-1987 OPC.....Canadien 6001

1987-1988 OPC......Canadien 6001
And I guarantee that he was using the Sherwood PMP 70 by 1988-1989. One of my prized possessions is a game used stick from that year.
My Personal Analysis
OP's stick is very likely an Al MacInnis game used, with a typo that adds to the "Cool" factor. It's most likely from 1986-1987, as that is when MacInnis was using the 6001 and of course it syncs up with some of the signatures. Very cool piece OP, well worth the $40!
