Oh, so on your Bell you ran it through two different inputs on your TV?

Yes. Dual Tuner requried 2 different feeds in the same box.

Yes and no.
I had a dual tuner Bell and only used one feed, (single TV mode). But I used the second tuner to record something different than what I was watching and for PIP viewing only.

In order for the dual tuner to work properly you must have 2 differently coax lines go into the box. Then you can either run 2 tvs (one only in SD) or have two HD feeds.
With my 9200 in single TV mode I could press the tuner button and switch instantly between the two HD feeds.

Ohh god please don't let this thread get Cecil'ed
Can anyone tell me, does Telus have a modem-only that can do the 25MBps /3HD profile? I want to drop the actiontech and use a better, self-supplied router, but was under the impression that the modem-only combo wasn't optik-compatible.
Also can anyone run my addy and tell me if the 25mbps profile is up yet, I am itching to get some more speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.

Thanks! I have another router running behind it because my place is too big for one wireless router that's in the basement - but the hand off between two AP's running the same SSID and pw is effing with the wife's macbook....
I was hoping to run just one high power N router in the basement along with a dedicated modem, but might just run a high powered single N router in the basement off the actiontec, if I have too...
PM incoming!

Does Telus offer a student discount? Shaw's is pretty sweet. I get internet, digital cable, timeshift, sports, all the HD channels, and a handfull of a la carte specialty channels...all for $80/month (roughly half I think)

Is that considered a good deal? I get phone, internet, and digital cable through Telus for about $50 a month. Don't get the HD channels though that shouldn't be that much more if I wanted to add them.
I bet you can get about $20 off a month if you call and threaten to switch to Telus.

Hmmm, if you add full HD channels to that and you got something significantly lower than $80 a month that'd be quite impressive IMO.

My 3 unit townhouse has a demarc box accessible from the outside. Had a tech out here to install Optik and he says he doesn't have a key for it. I'm on the Board and don't know of any key for this.
So the question is - who should have the key for the demarc box? Telus? The Board? If it's the latter, how do I get a new one?

outside most buildings like this there usually is a lockbox with a key in it for the phone room. You may have to get the landlord or building maintenance to let them in.

Alas this is not a huge condo building, it's pretty much a detached house. The demarc box is affixed to a deck post for the entire complex and anyone can walk right up to it. The box itself however, is locked.

Well then the guy shoulda had a church key in his tool bag. No reason for it to be locked really IMO

Sorry for not being clear... you're right, the clients versions have been upgraded for a while now... the upcoming update (which was delayed now for another couple weeks) is for the supporting systems on the network. Only difference customers will see I believe is some sort of new feature for VOD.

i'm definitely switching back to Shaw after my 6 month promo is up. the Cisco box Telus uses is terrible, it feels like it's connected with a dial-up modem with how sluggish it is to respond to any command (this really sucks when trying to fast forward through commercials on a recorded program but the box won't respond when you hit play)

You're the only person I've heard this from... I find the shaw box slow and my friend who has Telus loves how quick his scrolls through pages and changes channels. Is it possible your box is defective?

It feels that way to me too. I just switched from Shaw and have the Telus (non-PVR units) Optik TV boxes, and they're really sluggish, especially compared to what I experienced with the Motorola for Shaw. Maybe the menu settings need to be configured in some way to make the guide and everything faster. I mean, the menus themselves are much nicer than Shaws, but thats it.
