Does anyone else find it reprehensible (nice word eh?) and shameful that he is getting the news coverage and fame he dreamed of?

So you would rather the media just brush this story under the rug?

Im not sure. Do you see a positive side for yourself in knowing about this?
Maybe the medias hunger for drama, and their exploitation of it go too far.

He killed 90+ innocent people.

Does it suck that hes getting news coverage? Yes, because we all wish this never happened.

However, not covering the story and pretending it never happened wont really solve anything.

Well what do you want the news to report on? That's an absurd statement. Would you rather just have no news at all? That way terrorists, extremists, attention whores, etc. get nothing and we can all live in a happy naive isolated bubble.

Consider the number of laws that have been passed, or court cases lost/won excusing the every day practices of politicians and corporations which erode our rights, environmental health, physical health, etc.

Why no media feeding frenzy?

One word...DRAMA

We all know it can be a dangerous world, and that there are crazies out there, but we dont need a sh.. storm of
of information about this.

I wonder if people consider the social and psychological effects of the way sensationalism is fed to us.

I dont say the story should not be reported, but to exploit it like this I find obscene.

This isn't drama, this is a world event. This was a massacre. Should the world have not known about 9/11, or the July London bombings because it gives attention to people who don't deserve it? Ludacris. Unless of course you're exploring an absurd opinion in order to garner heated replies and cause discussion, much like the media you are so against. Then jokes on me.

Edit: After reading your edit; yes I agree exploitation is wrong, but I haven't seen much in the way of extreme exploitation in the news. Not much in the way of fear mongering either. I mean, how much can you do in a situation like this?

His objective was to make Europe more Christian. Exposing the dark side of Christian right-wing doesn't help him achieve that.

It does where there are receptive minds, and there are quite a lot of them.
Just listen to some of the conversation in your local bar.

The thing that set me of on this topic was when i heard a tease on the news about an upcoming story outlining his 'manifesto'.

And now a moment of silence...

What local bar are you hanging out in where there are receptive minds to this lunacy?

I can understand the "don't give the guy the attention he craves" because it's kind of annoying that he has achieved that "goal", but really, what's the difference?

Sure, he gets some deranged satisfaction knowing that his face is all over the news, he's not actually accomplishing anything outside of his own head.
