I think I'll just upgrade - my current OS X install is just over a year old, and I keep it quite clean. I installed the 10.6.8 combo updater to make sure I'm fully patched up.
I have read that a clean install can be performed via the recovery partition that Lion creates, so we'll all have that option in our back pockets as well.

Yeah, that's what I did tonight. It was pretty cool actually. I just rebooted into the recovery partition, opened up Disk Utility, formatted the hard drive and then selected the option to install Lion fresh from the App Store from the recovery console.
Piece of cake!

So just to be clear... we can't install lion straight off disc? It has to come from the App Store?
How does one do a full system wipe and re-install without having to install Snow Leopard first?
Just seems weird that an OS doesn't come in hard copy.

I have a May/2011 iMac, so my OS X install is still relatively fresh. Can anyone verify that installing Lion from the App Store will only modify my MacOS partition and leave my Windows 7 (Bootcamp) partition untouched?

Apparently it will come out on a usb stick in August. Pretty sure there's a way to pull a .dmg out of the app... I suppose you could download, rip dmg, wipe and then clean install. I'll let the smarter folks in the room tell me if I'm totally wrong here.
My most anticipated sub-feature has to be resume. The ability to close apps without the "would you like save changes?" alert box will be sweet. Not sure why that excites me, but here we are.

Can someone explain to me what the Lion equivalent of spaces is?
I would previously command-# to one of four spaces, each of which would have like-minded apps running in it. Graphic apps would automatically start in space 3, for example.

I believe spaces and expose have been combined into mission control. Spaces are now the horizontal strip at the top. There are some bonuses (full page apps become a space automatically, and you don't need to go to settings to add a space), but also some drawbacks (one strip instead of a big grid).
I haven't used it... that's only going off the review I read this morning.
Good read if you're interested --> http://www.macworld.com/article/1610...tml?lsrc=top_1

I absolutely love mission control - so much easier to view. Reversed scrolling is going to take time, but the invisible scroll bar is great. A view of the graphic changes are done for the sake of change, but overall it's worth it. Airdrop is going to come in handy.
Airplay seems to be more responsive.

To create a new 'space' or 'desktop' go into mission control and drag a window/app to the top right. a big + sign appears to drop it into. Pretty slick.
Haha - When you enter full screen and go into mission control, any apps running in full screen are treated as a new desktop area, and are titled after the app. Welcome to the new way to use a mac.
3 finger tap over a word to look it up in the dictionary.

Trying to get the hang of Mission Control but I already miss Spaces. I just liked it because I'll routinely have up to about a dozen apps running at once and I never had to organize them, they were assigned to start in a specific space every time.
Weirdly enough - my apps that I set to live "In Every Space" still live on each desktop. But how do I set a new app to do that in Lion?

Is there an instruction book or something? I have no idea how to use all these new features.

So I have a new hard drive I am going to install into my MBP and then install Lion to it. When I format the disk it asks me which format i want to use. Can someone tell me which format I want to use? Thanks.

Here's something I can't seem to fix.
The new finder doesn't show the No. of items in a folder and the remaining disk HDD space. Anyone know how to fix that? Two things often important to my work.
