Vancouver up 1-0 in the 21st minute. TFC's leading goal scorer has been subbed out. Looks like Vancouver may take it after all.

It says nothing good about the state of Canadian soccer that it was decided as a dogfight between the two worst teams in MLS. The Canadian championship will always be a joke due to lack of competition.

TFC makes a couple deals today, including with Whitecaps for Terry Dunfield. Johnson hopefully can turn it around and I dont mind seeing Nana, Gordon and Peterson gone. Too bad we can't dump JDG and use the DP slot on someone useful. Even though this season is done hopefully next year we're legit. TFC TFC Excited to see the new guys make their debut in person next week, Frings is probably the best player to ever suit up for TFC.

I know this is not MLS news, but first year FC Edmonton is in 2nd place in the NASL. They tied the first place team, Carolina, 1-1 last night. Carolina has won 12 of their 16 games this year, which is insane.
FC Edmonton has 21 Canadian players on the roster, and is really the only Canadian professional team largely filled with Canadians. For comparison, Vancouver has 2, Toronto has 10, and Montreal has 7. I think this is a team to get behind, and with good support, maybe it will lead to Calgary getting a team?
I feel a little dirty cheering for an Edmonton team though.

Yep, I'll wait till someone cashes in on the possibility of a rivalry. Can't cheer for any Edmonton team, for any reason. I really hope we get an NASL franchise here sooner rather than later. I'll be one of the first people out to support it.

That turf was grass, but yes it was bad. It was only put in this week for this game as they don't want Man City's million dollar ankles playing on turf.
Just got back from the game. Good first half by the Whitecaps but they played their better players in the first, and City played their better side in the 2nd.
Wright-Phillips was great, showed a real effort.
Baloteli is a lazy bum, didn't want to be there it seemed. And he started walking right off the pitch after the match without shaking hands or anything until a couple of Whitecaps stopped him and set him straight.
Clichy is a traitor.

I'll be there for the game as well. First game for me this year. Can't wait to see the new additions.

It's already failed twice in Calgary.
I would support it, but the problem is, where do you play? The only way it works is if you find someone willing to spend the money on a team, on a passable facility and is willing to suffer losses for a few years trying to grow a market from scratch.

The only current facility I could see being fit for temporary play is the Foothills Track, which recently went through an upgrade from the city. If a soccer specific stadium is not built in Calgary, no soccer team will succeed.

Yeah, and that was where the Storm/Mustangs played before moving into an empty McMahon. You could get away with that location for the NASL, but you would have to build better seating and concessions.

This is another reason why I'm a fan of starting off with a PDL club, it would be much eaiser to finance a little park for a club on that scale.
