I agree with your first point. As to your second point, X-men was 10 times the movie TF3 is.
How so, what was so special about X-men? It was ok, definately as a story better than xformers, but how is it such a great movie? I must have missed something, I have it a tick above meh at best.

I don't have a hate for Lebeouf like most people do (i actually think hes a very good actor), but the acting in Xmen is miles better than transformers. The story was actually coherent, they tied it into an already established universe very well, as well as did a fantastic job of tying it into a major event in history while keeping it plausible.
I like Transformers, but there are glaring plot holes in all three movies that, while they can be overlooked (by me) for the sake of being entertained by the action, can understandably ruin the movies for other people.
Story line was crap, but the action scenes were awesome and we need a little cheeziness in these cartoon/comic book cross over movies to make them feel authentic.
But again, the constant scene cutting and all of these people running this way and that, gets confusing and seems (stay with me) incredibly un realistic.. ya I just said that.

Let me put it this way. If Bay were in charge of Xmen First Class, the story would have revolved around some wise cracking regular human trying to hook up with a random girl that we don't care about. Every now and again a mutant would appear, but only for a minute or two. Also, Magneto would be a bumbling fool who essentially trips over his own feet every step he takes.

Your pretty well bang on except in the opening scene Magneto would be leaving a starbucks trip over the curb and fall down with an explosion that would take out 6 city blocks.

I want to see that as a short film. Let's get on this!
Saw Xmen a couple days ago finally. After all the buzz and good reviews I had going in, it lived up to my high expectations. Clearly the best summer movie so far. Great characters, good story, good action and just an overall good movie. Not just a popcorn flick, not a guilty pleasure movie, I thought it was a good movie overall. After this movie, I've concluded that Magneto is the most interesting comic book character I have ever seen.
In comparison to Dark of the Moon, it is clearly better in every category except one or two. Now don't take this to mean I'm a Bay lover and I love explosions, and I'm only interested in loud bangs and all that crap, but the visuals in Trans3 were night and day to Xmen. I thought some of the effects in Xmen were pretty poor. Case in point, the aircraft the Xmen rode in, it just looked really fake and didn't move well. It reminded me of the crappy effects in the abomination that was GI Joe. I thought overall, the effects were sub par to be blunt. Transformers effects just seem to be a lot more crisp and fluid and were probably a lot harder to create as well.
Boxofficemojo has Transformers' budget at 195 million while Xmen was 160. I'm no special effects wizard, I don't know the inner details of production and what money is spent where, but with 160 million put into a movie with no genuine A list actors, I was expecting a lot more visually from Xmen. Transformers had huge sets, better effects and I got the feeling the producers spent their money a lot better.
Say what you will about the movies, but from a technical standpoint, Transformers blew Xmen out of the water.

I strongly disagree. I thought X-men had way stronger visuals. When Magneto lifted the submarine out of the water it looked awesome. The battle scenes, the transformations and the teleportations of Azazel were really well done. On the flip side, the transformers flick was an eye-sore for long periods of time in the last hour. A shaky camera followed by several explosions pretty much sums up the fight scene at the end.
And I don't hate Bay or the franchise, I liked the first two movies, but this one was really hard to watch at times.

I guess we 100 percent disagree, because like I said, I thought Xmen's visuals were terrible in comparison to Transformers. Yes, with Dark of the Moon or any of the first two, at times, it can be a little tough to pick up everything that's going on, but to me, that's a testament to the attention to detail that goes into making these things. There's so much going on and if you do it slow it down or wait for a trademark Bay slo-mo shot, you can see how much work is involved.
I know winning or being nominated for academy awards is not the be all, end all argument, but the first 2 Trans movies have received 4 techincal nominations and will probably have more for this movie. No nominations for either Xmen movie and I would be shocked if First Class had any visual or sound awards next year.
Xmen a far better movie, Transformers, a far better visual experience.
The great thing about X-men with respect to its visuals, is that I could actually understand what was happening during the action sequences. Bay's Transformers movies are just a jerky, incoherent mess. Sure, the colours are all vibrant and the picture is shot in super hi definition, but visually, that's all he really brings to the table.

Xmen spoiler filled retort
Spoiler!
Magneto kills via a Nazi coin through the skull. Your argument is invalid.

Many good points about X-men, I liked it but didn't love it and wouldn't have said it was 'Amazing!' but I definately see the points brought up above. It does beat transformers on most levels, I just never got captivated by X-men enough to rave about it. I wouldn't run and see either twice, at least in the theater.
I was reading an interview with one of the producers of the Transformers films and he not only says there will be another sequel, but they are hoping for another trilogy.
In my opinion, another trilogy could work if they rebooted it, got a proper director and especially a proper script. Unfortunately, the producer says that the new movie (or trilogy) WON'T be a re-boot and will be a continuation of the first 3. Two of the three movies had awful stories, and you could argue they are all terrible. The first I liked, haven't seen the third, but I heard it was as terrible as 2. Why continue with a bunch of movies that have terrible story lines though?
It is clear that the producers don't give a crap about actually making good films, they just want to rake in the money. Really pisses me off because I think a good transformers film could be made.
I wonder if Chris Nolan would move on to Transformers when he is done with his Batman trilogy and made a Transformers trilogy. haha
