Default Sore Foot

Woke up Monday morning with my foot killing me. No idea why. Figures I would give it a few days. Not any better today.

It's not an ankle. I can rotate my ankle fine. Originally thought it could have been because the pain was right under the able on the outside of my foot. I can basically only walk 30 feet until the pain really hits. Anyone want to play armchair doctor?

I have lived in Calgary since 2003 and have never been to a clinic or hospital. Are there any clinics with x-ray machines or am I in for a pain in the ass time?

Where is the pain?

if it is under the ankle you may want to research Plantars fasciatis which can flair up unexpectedly.

If it is closer to the Big toe it might be uretic or Gouty Arthritis.

Those are two common issues of unexplained foot pain.

Most walk-in clinics will refer you to the ER if you don't have a family doctor with an x-ray machine. Even then, they'd probably just tell you to take it home and ice it.

I know they sometimes treat plantar fasciitis with cortisone shot though.

Try one of those urgent care places (there's one in Sundance) because they have an onsite x-ray, I think. It'll be a PITA, but I'd do it today before the drunken buffoons start showing up in the ER due to long-weekend partying.

In my experiance, gout hurts anytime you move your toes at all, like someone is sticking needles in them, heel spurs hurt alot when you first get out of bed, you tend to hobble around the bedroom waiting for your feet to start to work properly.

Your feet doen't seem to sound like either of these

I had the exact same problem last year. I replaced the dress shoes I wore on a daily basis and after about a month I was good. Could be similar...

Well played Reggie.

Pain is closer to the heal almost directly below the ankle on the outside.

No history of foot problems, bacterial or otherwise.

For the pain fill a bucket with cold water and add ice cubes to whatever temperature you can handle. Place your foot in it for about half an hour.

Sounds like a minor sprain/strain.

As others have mentioned: RICE

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

Is there a handcuff around your ankle, and are you locked in a bathroom with another man and a hacksaw and tape recorder in between you?

15 posts in, and nobody has berated the OP for asking for advice on a internet forum instead of going to see a doctor? CP is getting soft.

I had the similar problems with new footwear. Changed them out/didn't do any walking/staying on my feet for a few days and was fixed.

See a Podiatrist first, they deal with these kinda things and can probably see you before any doc or ER will. Family docs usually refer you to them anyways.
