X2 on both points.
However, I don't think the NHL would go for this. If even Bouw is saying he won't attend another game next year if this isn't resolved before next season, I have to imagine he's not alone and that attendance will be even worse next year.
I think the NHL is smart enough to know that this debacle stretching into next season will be the death knell for the team and for any chance of a buyer wanting to keep the team there, especially since the team loses more money than Glendale is committing to cover and there has to be a point where the BoG is going to tell the NHL that enough is enough.

"We certainly hope the that Tuesday's City Council meeting will end any speculation on the Coyotes' future in Glendale," said Daly. "Obviously, we want to wait until Tuesday night to determine what's next. One step at a time.
"As we have for the past two-plus years, we have been working very closely with the City of Glendale to do everything possible to ensure the Coyotes' future in Glendale," added Daly. "At the City's request, we have agreed to pursue another one-year interim arrangement while we jointly pursue a long-term ownership solution. We remain confident that one exists, and we intend to continue to pursue it."

So the city of Glendale is going to use budget money again to ensure the team stays and loses a bunch more money? I see a few problems with that. I can't see the GWI on board with that yet again and at some point the NHL board of governors is not going to be on board for a team that is going to keep leaking money out of the NHL. Using tax payers money that is supposed to be used to cover upgrades for parks, streets, ect to cover losses by an NHL franchise is wrong. I hope GWI can block this.

It sounds like the NHL is going to limp through one more year of this clusterf.... with probably nothing being settled.

A) that hole isn't getting a team for at least another year. So funny to watch them be bridesmaids but never a bride.
B) I can fly down to the warm desert to watch Flames games.

Or, the League is willing to give the Coyotes one more season so that the Thrashers can complete their sale to True North. Then, if nothing concrete gets finalized in Glendale, they can put the team up for auction with re-location on the table.

D) And look for 12 bedroom mansions I can put on my Zellers card!

Bryzgalov is going to have an interesting decision to make if the Yotes are in Glendale for one more year.
1. Skip town to another team
2. Sign a 1 year deal so you don't get forced to move to Winnipeg with a long term deal
3. Sign a multi-year deal and bet that the team will stay
4. Go back to Russia

I think either Philly or Washington will make him a pretty good offer whether the Yotes stay or not.

As long as it doesn't bring them too far above the salary floor. You'd assume with the salary floor where it is, each team would be on the hook for over a million of payroll for the Phoenix Coyotes. Now while the Calgary Flames can handle it easily, you've got to feel bad for a team like Nashville that's excellently managed, but can't afford to spend to the cap. An extra million and change can go a long way for them (now I'm sure that's not exactly how the money is given to Phoenix, but if they're allowed money from the league just to ice A team, I'd like money to ice a better team were I an owner of the Predators)

At this point, you really have to wonder if Gary & Friends aren't simply sabotaging the NHL. The amount of damage these idiots have done to this league since taking over is staggering.

No matter what happens there will be no long term security for this team in Phoenix. After 15 years it is well proven that there is no viable revenue stream here. Even if a deal goes through it is just a matter of time before the next owner wants to sell or declare bankruptcy.

Well there was the story that Stern picked his dumbest aide to be the NHL commissioner. Good plan for the NBA I guess.

It was mentioned before the 25 million was already in escrow, it was placed there as part of the deal the league and the city negotiated before the ownership search started, if so the money is not coming form the city (legaly) and so the boat on objecting has already sailed.

I think he's referring to this talk of renewing the agreement to cover the team's losses.
