I highly recommend the new Foo Fighters documentary film Back and Forth. It is really well done. It made me realize just how many good songs and complete albums the Foo Fighters have. The only problem I find with the Foo Fighters is that their music gets old fast. I seem to kill their music faster then any other bands music.
I loved 90s rock. Better than the 80s and much much better than the 2000s. I'm sure I can think of at least 30 bands from the 90s that released at least 2 solid albums. Once itunes became big, the focus turned to selling singles instead of albums.
Say what you will about Nirvana; at least they killed Poison and the like. Now if only someone can come kill TheoryofANickelFault.
Agreed. 90's had some great music and you don't even really need to look that hard.
Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Collective Soul, Oasis, Soundgarden, Rage, Black Crows, Matthew Good Band, Sloan, just off the top of my head.
If anyone is into folk hip hop, Sims - Bad Time Zoo came out this year. Sims is part of the Doomtree Collective which includes P.O.S., Dessa, Cecil Otter, Mike Mictlan, Laserbeak and Paper Tiger.
The 90's had some good music, I think the Smashing Pumpkins or the Hip were the best 90's bands. Most of the other groups were just trying to be The Replacements.
But the 80's really slays the 90's for music. It's not even close: REM, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, New Order, U2, The Talking Heads, Metallica, THe Replacements, Springsteen, The Clash, INXS, Bowie, etc.
So much music is released every day (going back to the 1980s), you could spend your whole life listening to music, and still only scratch the surface of what is out there. I think it is meaningless to say one decade or year is better than another.

I agree with what troutman said, it's really meaningless to say one decade is better. I'm not a subjectivist, but it's hard to even argue a certain band is better than another, let alone trying to argue decades. I've found so much good music just by looking at the recommended videos on youtube.
I think for most people, the best decade for music is the one that contained their formative years.

But yeah, that is a good point. There are so many genres its hard to label music by decade. But most of the music I listen to was made in the 80's, so there is a definite preference for me. My formitive years were in the late 90s/early 00s and I dislike most of the stuff from that era, in all genres.
Seeing as you're a fan of RVIVR, do you also like Latterman? Including Phil Douglas of RVIVR.
Yeah dude, Latterman was my favorite band a 3-4 years ago!
Then, after Latterman broke up, Matt Canino went on to do Shorebirds and Phil Douglas/Brian Crozie did Iron Chic, before RVIVR ever rolled around.

Every decade had good and bad music as far as I'm concerned and it's all a matter of preference.
Currently, I don't understand a word of Spanish, but I'm really digging Pitbull and I'm in my 40's...

Couldnt disagree more, the 60's and 70's were easily the best. I was born in '83 and can think of 100 artist I would rather listen to from that era over anybody from the 90's, or 00's.

Obviously, these aren't hard and fast rules. I think it's generally true though. I think people can relate to music better if they've experienced the context the music grew out of. I love the Beatles, but I can't experience the context they came about in. I can imagine what the 60s were like, but I can't experience it. While a new artist like Burial, I can see the context he creates music out of, thus I can experience it better.
