Deli meat. You can never go wrong with deli meat. At least a kilo. Send it to me for approval.

Well, this thread hasn't made it any easier to choose.

Now I'm deciding between wine, chocolate, and hookers & blow, but at least it seems like you can't go wrong with any of those

Of course my suggestion is overlooked. You'll be sorry when that persons response to the wine or chocolate is "I'd have prefered deli meat, you jerk."

I work in sales and in my opinion, NOTHING beats a Thank-you card with a sincere, heartfelt, handwritten note. Try to splurge on the card, like over 10 bucks.

i would think the only time chocolates or wine would violate a company gift policy would be if they were to be served in france. i would also think that if an individual gave an individual a gift then it should be fine.

lots of places have a $100 as the levle for a gift; however, in Calgary a pair of flames tickets or a round of golf with cart and drinks can be over $100

I guess I should have explained my original post...

I still think wine is the way to go even after reading all the responses. For some reason, wine has a real professional gift feel to it for all types of people (wine lovers or not).

Also, what you ultimately decide to buy is based on the person you are buying it for. I would never really feel comfortable giving any of my male co workers a box of chocolates as a gift. Although that may be because I work in the oil patch and the majority of my coworkers are rednecks. However, if the gift was to a female coworker or colleague I may decide that is the right gift to give.

I love wine. Great gift. Judging by the fact that it's going to an ad agency probably not an issue. But alcohol for a work thank you isn't always a great idea. If somebody gave me a bottle of wine at work I would promptly be out of a job and escorted of the premises by security.

That would be BS to lose your job over accepting wine as a gift. PC corporate America/Canada is silly

Thanks for the suggestions, CP

I am glad you picked up on this. Box, bottle, half full, doesn't really seem to matter to me...

If you are in any doubt about the ability of the recipient to accept gifts, I'd go with a thank-you card with a note about how you appreciate how he/she helped you. It is personal, heartfelt and a thank-you is always appreciated.

Unless the OP is thanking a woman or has homosexual designs on the man he is thanking... not appropriate.

If another dude gave me chocolates, I could live with that.

I really like chocolate.

If it's a man, get him a gently used Sherman tank or a time machine. What guy wouldn't enjoy those?
