Did anyone else wear these uniforms in Cubs back in the day? I wore them for a couple years before they were phased out and the collared beige uniform with the sash was brought in in the very early 90s.

The badges were sewn on the arms and they came with a little green beanie hat. I actually kind of liked them better, and I think these new ones are closer to that sort of style.

EDIT: Like Reggie Dunlop posted above, except we didn't wear the shorts, usually our own pants.

The official pants/socks were optional uniform items. Not many kids wore 'em.

The British schoolboy caps were kinda dumb. If you're going to have a brim on it, at least make it functional (wide enough to keep the sun out of the eyes).

Ya, it looks like they are going back to what I wore back in the day. Seems like a waste to me, and will probably cause people to drop out if they can't afford another uniform. Taken with the probably yearly rate increase, this seems like just another money grab by the organization.

I never was a scout or a cub, they didn't have enough heavy artillery to make them interesting.

Clearly, you were never a cub or scout. The ballistic capabilities of a water-balloon launcher are not to be trifled with.

I rocked that old grey Jersey cotton cub uniform.

There just aren't enough professions where you can wear a sash anymore.

What's left? Beauty Queens and Central/South American Dictators?

This is exactly the uniform I wore as a kid. I was in cubs for 3 years, 1987-90. I still have the uniform, and my mom actually took all the badges off the shirt and framed them! She gave it to me, but I feel kind of silly putting it on display. Maybe if I have a cottage or cabin someday I'd hang it there.

I was never in scouts ot anything like that so maybe it's because I don't have a nostalgia about it, but I like the new uniforms better. They look more comfortable and less geeky.

I was never in Scouts and cannot tie knots to this day. When I'm asked to help moor my friend's boat after a day on the lake, I usually just wrap the rope endlessly around the hook until Im sorta-sure the boat won't drift.

When I was in cubs and scouts nothing attracted the bullies quite like having to wear your uniform to school on Nov 11th.

I think the sash is a much better thing for badges.

When I was in grade 12, I was already in the military reserves, and I had to wear my full dress uni on Nov 11. I had to do the memorial day ceremony with members of the cadets, and since one of them a kid that I positively hated was a cadet officer, I had to salute him.

I remember i was in like grade 3 and my mom made me wear mine to school... I packed extra clothes in my backpack and changed as soon as i got into the school.

Scouts are like uber geeks, but it was a lot of fun hiking and fishing and rock climbing and stuff. The stupid stuff you do in groups in a school gym are dumb but i guess they teach you some fundamental things.

I don't think they were around then weren't your choices just gladiator or Roman Legion?

I didn't like Cubs all we did is plan to go on camping trips but never actually do one, so I quit and jumped up to Scouts even though I was a bit too young, I loved it we went camping every month, got to wear a sash, it was a lot of fun.

I liked the sash because we were not required to wear it all times. That reason alone made it that much more significant. I wore it proudly when required.

I wonder if any of the old scouters in the CP ranks remember participating in the Ice Stampede or building and racing Kub Kars?
