Are you referring to The Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus? I agree with your suggestion, but call a place that awesome by name!
Mmmm, I could go for a leek, smoked sausage and egg pannenkoek right about now!

Also, for the IHOP discussion, way better than humptys. Misleading name however. If they're only in the US, it's hardly an international house now is it?

IHOP's in Vancouver.

Didn't Nelly's have a long series of city health violations?

The extra-crunchiness in their waffles comes from cockroaches!

Ew. Didn't realize that. Haven't been there for the last 2 years. Are they even still open after that?

I had no idea. That's awesome and I will be stopping by there the next time I'm in Edmonton. Thanks!

Especially Humpty's. That is not whipped cream, it's "whipped topping". ::barf::

The only two still open is Cosmic Cafe on 17th and Breaks the Fast downtown - 10th St. and 7th Ave. All the rest have closed, a couple have opened under a new name, separate from the owner. We haven't set foot in a Nellie's since the health violations were announced.

Now that I think about it, there really is a lack of breakfast eateries in Calgary. Unless you're into Tim's, Denny's, Phil's and Humpty's, you have to look pretty hard for a place to grab some coffee and eggs at 8 a.m on a Sunday. In the NW, all I can think of--in addition to what I mentioned--is Cora's.
It's news to me that Nelly's in Kensington is gone. I have never eaten there, but I knew it was popular.
Anyway, good luck with your waffle hunt, THE SCUD! Belgian waffles are super easy to make, btw.

Man, I am glad my waffle craving started off some breakfast-centric discussion!
For the record, we stayed in and made home made with fruit topping (no homo, as they say).
but if Leth is getting an IHOP, where is Calgary's?!
Maybe Lethbridge's IHOP will get blown all the way up here.

Im glad you went with home-made. Always better than Denny's and the like. I went to an IHOP in St. Louis. Tasted exactly the same as Denny's to me. The big difference was the air was more humid due to people breaking a sweat from breathing too hard.
