Do the dudes at Riley Park play for Team Canada?
Do women play?

I don't think there is any Calgary Cricket Club representation on Team Canada.
Women do play cricket. There have been 9 Women's World Cups - 2009 being the most recent. The diggers have 5 titles, England 3 and New Zealand 1. Next WC is in 2013 India.

There are 3 players from Calgary(maybe alberta?) in the Canada squad. This is by far the highest representation in history.
There isn't a league for women at Riley park but I believe they have mini drop-in style games on Saturdays.
How are you guys watching the cup? PPV or online? or other methods like jadoo? I am looking for a good HD feed.... please let me know if you know of one.
Thanks.

Totally forgot to pay attention to the Sri Lanka/Canada game. Canada's next game is on the 28th?
Didn't hear a peep about it in the media, though I suppose that isn't surprising.

Add to that Canada was beaten pretty badly by Afghan the other day and Afghan didn't qualify (they only started playing 3 years ago I think). So Canada is in very tough.

Canada is ranked 11th out of 14 officially.
Ireland, Kenya, and the Netherlands are 12-14th respectively.
Canada played much better vs Sri Lanka than they did in the 2003 World Cup.

Wow, India scored 338 and they're probably going to lose! Strauss has 125 and is still going.

India might get out of jail now as they have taken 3 quick wickets.
England made a crucial error taking the batting powerplay with 10 overs left. Should have avoided it until they had to take it with 5 overs left.

Nah, imo you take it with your set batsman and Strauss and Bell (hurting) were both hitting well.
It was the right move but it didn't work. India gets away with this one but their bowling is very suspicious. Almost failed to defend a 338 total so it'll be interesting when they faceoff against Saffies.

By your logic they should have taken the PP in the 35th over right after the new ball. If not, I think they should have waited til 45th over with 8 wickets in hand and go nuts.
Taking it when they did (42nd over), makes no sense. Especially when India were doing nothing in their attack, they were allowing easy singles.

It's a tie! 338-338.
India were ahead but gave up 3 sixes in the last two overs.

No you take it somewhere in the last 10 overs with either you big hitters coming up or your set batsmen.
It depends on team really, if you're Pakistan and you've got Misbah and Yonuis set at the 40th over, you don't take it and wait till Afridi/Razzaq come on. If you're England in this case you take it with Strauss and Bell cuz Prior/Collingwood weren't going to hit huge boundaries.
With India, they could've taken their PP anywhere cuz all their guys can hit big.
In the end, its a tie but Jimmy Anderson for England is mightily struggling, going for almost 10 an over. As for as India, they have HUGE bowling issues, if you can't defend 338 in 50 overs then you're not gonna win the cup. England bowling is ok wait till they face Saffies, Ausies, Pakistan bowling lineups and it could be real trouble.

Depends on the fielding team too. India were doing nothing. Dhoni pretty much conceded defeat the way he had his field. If England had waited, they could have picked up an easy 20 runs from overs 42-44. 300-2 with 5 overs to go and the powerplay. Slog with 8 wickets in hand and win easily.
I agree with you about the set batsman theory, but in this case India were defeated. England set India's defense for them by taking the PP.

Not for free.
Shaw has the CricketPlus channel that is showing the entire tournament but is quite expensive.

Intense game! I definitely thought India would take it after they took those quick wickets but props to England for managing a tie. I love games that come down to the last ball.

Great match to watch! That review of the LBW on Bell should have been given out, completely plumb. Tendulkar played brilliantly and then Strauss one-upped him, really entertaining stuff. The pitch really never offered anything to the bowlers and India were lucky they got away with a tie. Dhoni's field settings were far too defensive and Strauss basically shot himself in the foot with the powerplay.
All in all, a nail biter till the last ball. I sure hope there's a lot more matches like this to follow.
