Riding a bike in the winter doesn't make you a hero, it makes you a red faced, shivering person that smells like sour vinager in the first meeting of the day while you shift around in your boardroom seat trying to alieviate the pain of crotch rot.

While guys on bikes are falling over 15 times on the way to work, guys like me are deciding whether the 5 or 10 point rule applies to you.
While riding a bike in the morning does have it's drawbacks, it also comes with some excellent perks that a elderly citizen such as yourself could benefit from.

Perk #1: No traffic, which I know grinds the gears of many an old blowhard on this site. (Also no standing in a cramped C-Train, another gear grinder for the cane-wielding, get-off-my-front-lawn, "I know best because I grew up when men were 10 feet tall and created the world you know from metal and bronze with their bare hands," types.)

Perk #2: A finely tuned "suspension" which allows for extended wrestling matches without the need of aids like Viagra, or in your case black and white polaroids of WW1 era french cabaret girls.

Perk #3: Being conditioned by the extreme weather makes you into something of a "Hero." Did you see the ad for Captain America during the super bowl? That skinny little guy going into the machine, and then coming out a hero? Pretty much identical to my life story.

It does have its drawbacks, but I can take a shower when I get to work and alleviate any of them quickly.

However the pungent smell of rolaids, rogaine, tiger balm and mothballs attracts flocks of elderly women to you gentlemen almost as efficiently as a sale on the shopping channel, so kings to you my friend, you seem to have cornered that market nicely.

Cheers!

Although the Calgary forecast looks great this weekend, apparently Banff and other parts of the mountains are under a heavy snowfall warning. The skiers will rejoice, but it may make driving a little slower if you're heading that way.

I grew up somewhere where whenever it got below -10 or so it would never snow. Sigh. It's like karma kicking me square in the grobs every time I'm out shovelling the 2 cm of fresh snow on the sidewalk and it's -25 and windy.

The past 12 months have been a whore.

I'll never forgive mother nature for not giving me a proper summer.

Just drove in from Nanton - there is a ton of snow falling and Highway 2 is very slow with lots of snow on it.

Snow doesn't bother me at all. -32 is what bothers me... you cant do anything except work and sit inside under those conditions.

I wouldn't care we got 100 cm's of snow tomorrow as long as it was -5.
