Default Where to stay in New York, NY

I'm going there from February 17-19th and I'm looking for a place close to everything (whatever that maybe) for the cheaper the better. I'm traveling alone so Hostels are okay, but would prefer hotels. Anyone with good information on this?

Thanks!

There are literally hundreds of options. I can't help with hotels, but in terms of location it's pretty hard to find a bad spot as long as you're close to a subway stop. There are areas that are lacking in terms of finding a decent bar or restaurant on the corner, the cheaper hotels in the Chelsea area are bad for this, but even then it's only going to be a couple of blocks to something decent and a few minutes in a cab or on the subway to great places.

the subway is cheap and convenient, so you can stay pretty much anywhere from midtown to downtown and be near 'stuff'

The Marcel at Gramercy Hotel on East 24th. It's a block away from a Papa John's Pizza.

The Pod ftw.

I've done plenty of traveling, stayed in places of all types, and this is easily the best value. The (shared) bathrooms are super clean and absolutely gorgeous. The staff is fantastic. The rooms are clean, and the beds are comfy. Location wise......pretty hard to find any better. 5 minute walk to any attraction in that area.

About 3 miles away Maybe they deliver? It's too difficult to find the finest in New York cuisine these days...

That's a pretty solid location. Over on 2nd you'll find a good number of bars and restaurants, the bars can be a bit d-bag filled at happy hour though (myself included), and with the 51st station right there you can get pretty much anywhere quite easily.

Looks like you're getting here right in time for spring too, it's supposed to be 16 on friday.

I've stayed in a few places on the island, but the Pod just can't be beat. A single guy can get a good, clean, safe and comfortable room (small!) for $75-$100 a night......ridiculous.

Seriously OP - I can't recommend enough.
