West Ham win the Olympic Stadium bid according to a few places
so Spurs stay in North London most likely, and the OS was just awarded to a team that is likely in the Championship when the stadium is ready to be played in haha

Not a big deal for Spurs. Most Spurs fans were pretty pissed at the thought them leaving North London.

I'm happy they aren't moving, I think it's been a ploy by Levy to get a better deal out of the Haringey council
I just think it's funny how bad it's going to look when West Ham are playing at a stadium with an athletic track, which in itself is dumb, and very likely in the championship

It would have been pretty ironic for a Jewish-supported football club to have the initials S.S.F.C..

I think West Ham are doing the same things Spurs are; what they need to survive. A new stadium would be beneficial and they are not likely to build one on their own, they've made a few sacrifices and it looks like they'll get their new stadium.

Why would we be sour? Spurs already have plans to break ground on a new stadium next door to WHL.

Unless he is grandstanding, Levy says it is a no go.

not sour grapes at all
why would a team founded in North London leave the area and have the only team left be one that's from Woolwich
I don't live there now but I was born in London and I couldn't imagine going to a Stratford Hotspur when I go back
I think whether Levy was grandstanding or not, and I believe he was, there are pluses and minuses to having Daniel Levy run the club and they are both for the same reason, he treats the club like a business
The plus is that there will never be a Leeds like situation, and the club is run well and makes smart bargain buys in the transfer windows (Bale would go for at least 10x what he was bought now, Berba was sold for a 20m profit, 80% of players on the team could be sold for more than they were bought right now) and that offsets the odd poor signing (Bentley, buying Keane back) when it could otherwise cripple a clubs buying power
the downside is that with Levy running the club like a business, and WHL only holding 36k in fans, the club is never going to reach its full potential until it gets a new stadium with over 60k (which would easily be filled). That leads to things like the clubs self imposed wage limit, and in the past being a Manchested United feeder club (which Levy has said is over)
so I think Levy wanted the OS because he viewed it as the better business move, he didn't care about the fans emotional attachment to the area, but he knows a new stadium is needed and it will get done
his whole OS or nothing talk was grandstanding I believe

the biggest problem with West Ham getting it is that they don't have the fans, they barely sell out Upton Park now and they have 1 pound tickets available to kids
if they were in the championship, looking more and more likely as the season goes on, they would sell even less tickets

I think he was grandstanding, but I think you are as far away from building a new stadium as you were when the shiny new Arsenal-like plans were unveiled. The practicalities of building that on the site next to WHL are negligible without an immense investment in transport links. With regular CL football, that will be difficult, without CL football every year, well run or not (I agree you are well run), it will be nigh on impossible.

I would feel terribly for the good people of Stratford if they had to contend with a most unfortunate influx of Spurs fans every second Saturday (give or take). I wouldn't wish that upon anyone.

I'd feel terrible for the rest of the world. Spurs fans in North London would probably follow in the footsteps of F.C. United of Manchester and form a new Spurs club. Could you imagine a world plagued with two sets of Spurs supporters? It would be worse than Justin Bieber splitting in two meiosis-style!

just because the red half of north london is used to games at the highbury library and its relocation to the emirates doesn't mean the rest of the world likes silence when they watch a football match

Roy Hodgson confirmed as the new WBA head coach. Obviously ready to get back & prove he was just wrong man/wrong time at Liverpool.
Agreed. I hope he does well there and shows the team was equally to blame.
Some good matches this weekend. Of course I am looking forward to the Manchester derby. I found this good for a little laugh:
nickcoppack Ryan Giggs has played in more Manchester derbies (33) than the 11 players who started for Man City last weekend (31 combined). #mufc

less dirty than cheering for city
feel bad for WBA fans to be honest, RDM had them playing attractive football, and the rumors of Hughton or Jol coming in would have brought the same. With Roy they are just going to become Fulham of last year, which means they park the bus in 90% of the games they play

Cheering for either is equally as dirty. I really wish both teams could lose, maybe red cards all around?!

Arsenal supporters don't sing enough while Spurs fans celebrate a Carling Cup victory and CL qualification like they've won the bloody treble, I guess it's good the Spurs are staying as the clubs are the ying and yang or North London.
