That sounds horrible, just horrible. The extremes on either side aren't something to brag about.

That's crazy talk. While both are a bit much, I would prefer to step outside in +40 then in -40.

This Canadian cold has made you people soft to hot weather.

Unless you live outside it's easier to warm up than to cool down, and it's +40 down there a hell of a lot more than it's -40 here. (I can't even remember -40 in Calgary)

While I generally hate it when its above 30, if theres one thing Calgary could benefit from its warm summer nights... they just don't exist here.

Being 3400 ft above sea level will have that effect, although I find it a lot warmer at night than it use to be.

I'll take 42 degrees of dry heat over 30 and humid any day. I was in Darwin Australia during the start of wet season in 200 and it was 37 and humid, it was brutal. You sweat like a pig, go into an air conditioned building for 10 minutes and cool down, go back outside and you're sweating in 30 seconds. 2 days later in the center of the country at Ularu, that 40+ degree heat in the desert was nothing.

There is an invention that is called A/C it's for climates that get really warm and it cools the air inside your home to make it comfortable.

Back to 41* It's around 36-40* from late May to basically early October here. I love warm weather and would much rather be around it. to each is it's own though.

Warnings

City of Calgary
4:21 AM MST Sunday 06 February 2011
Snowfall warning for City of Calgary
issued

Heavy snowfall tonight and Monday.

An upslope flow of cold air from an Arctic ridge, moist Pacific air coming over the Rockies from BC and an upper disturbance sliding down the continental divide from northern BC will all combine to produce heavy snowfall in Western Alberta. The snow is expected to start this afternoon and continue into Monday. The Mountain Parks will see the heaviest snowfall with total amounts ranging from 30 to 50 cm by late Monday. Regions along the foothills including the City of Calgary can see amounts ranging from 15 to 30 cm by late Monday.

Snow and blowing snow will continue in the Medicine Hat and Cypress Hills regions early this morning and then conditions will gradually improve by noon.

To report severe weather, including snowfall amounts, to Environment Canada call 1-800-239-0484 or email storm(at)ec. Gc. Ca.

50cm of snow would rock.

Our weather this winter has to be one of the most wack in a long time. 2 weeks of -30 one week of +10, one week of -30 and 50cms of snow, one week of +10 to melt it all.... all winter long.

Glad i dont have to commute tomorrow. Good luck everyone.
