World Cup top eight seeds unveiled

			http://edition.cnn.com/2005/SPORT/fo...eut/index.html

Hosts Germany, Brazil, Italy, France, Argentina, Spain, Mexico and England were named as the top eight seeds for next year's World Cup finals by FIFA on Tuesday.
The decision was taken by the World Cup organizing committee and is based on world rankings over the past three years and performances in the two previous World Cups.

What a crock. This is based only on POWER.

FIFA World Rankings:

CZE and NED are better than ENG, ITA and GER.

I would have thought both the Netherlands and the USA would have been seeded over England and Mexico. What a shame.
Looking forward to the draw later this week.

I still can't believe Trinidad is going. As a Canadian soccer fan it gives me hope even though the Jack Warner favouritism over the years has me cheering against them usually.

I don't get it??? Ita qualified with 1 or 2 games remaining... Thr Cze team needed the playoffs just to qualify and the needed to recall Nedved. Italy also just beat Ned at in holland like a month ago. These teams are all really good, and it could be debated that those teams are better than Italy, but a that level-in my opinion-its all about which team is on a hotter streak...
Eng imo has the most talent behind Brazil and Germany are the host team and the runners up from the last world cuo.

The real joke is why Mexico and Spain are seeded.
Just my 2 cents

Is anyone else watching the World Cup seeding show right now on Sportsnet???
This is some of the worst television ever. Cheesy as hell and camera work that apperas to be done by the same guys that worked the CFL games during the CBC strike.

Germany, France, Spain and England have easy groups. Group E looks to be the group of death.

Group E would be my choice for the group of death. Why oh why can't the Czech's get an easy draw for once.

Group E definately looks the toughest and I would say H should be fairly easy for Spain, although considering their history they probably will screw it up and not advance.

Group B a joke!! are you kidding? That's not exactly a sure shot for England to qualify for the second rounīd... Sweden hasn't lost to England in almost 40 years, and Paraguay isn't a minnow either!!

There are so many similarities between those two teams it ain't funny. They both have the worst bandwagon fans. They both cling to wins that happened in ancient history. They're both overrated to hell by major media and hog all the attention from other great and more deserving teams. They cheap and cheesy on the field. They choke up when it counts. They blame everyone but themselves. Bleh, I hate England. I always cheer against them, just like the Leafs. |
