Default The Sleep Number Bed

So I like the concept of the sleep number bed, I think it's exactly what I need. Anyone here have any experiance with them? recomendations? what should I know?

Did you buy it locally, how much did you pay?

Is there a better matress I should get? Within reason cost is not an issue on this as I've learned the value of quality sleep...

I need a new matress...can I be confident in "why buy a matress anywhere else"?

Ive slept on one in a hotel.. not all what they are cracked up to be. The biggest thing I didnt like was the sides of the mattress. Its basically an air mattress in a box, the sides are stiff and you literally have to 'climb' out of bed.

just my .02

We have also used these beds in hotels and we really didn't like them. Too many problems (one kept deflating during the night) and just the general air bed feel to them.

The biggest thing I can offer is to haggle the heck out of whoever is selling the mattress. When I worked retail cost on a mattress was less than half of retail; that's the store's cost.

There will also some "half price" beds out there; the discounted price is pretty much retail; and then they put it on for double to be legally be able to call the "half price" a sale. When I worked retail we were told that if we ever sold on of the beds in our "half price" rotation when it wasn't on sale; we were not able to discount.

Shop around, work out deals, and then take those deals to another store. Spend your time- but also spend some money. A bed that retails for $1500 will give you so much better of a rest than one that retails for $800. Consider that you will spend 1/3 of your life on this bed; and that a good night sleep impacts the rest of your day.

I think the Radisson's have them in most of there hotels, I know Canmores does.

I would recomend trying one out for a weekend. I thought they were okay. I didn't like the cables that attached to the remote or the noise. It just seemed unatural.

Radisson Hotels have them as someone mentioned. Unless I have to, I will NOT stay in a Radisson because of it. I find them absolutely horrible to sleep on.

Like the others, the sides are stiff and on a queen bed that has two of the air bladders there is what can only be described as a center median.

As far as I remember, the Radisson in Canmore is the only 3* in the Priceline bidding zone and you can often get it for <$50. Good way to try one out.

I found a bed the same way (what the Courtyard chain had) and haven't been disappointed since.

Doesn't sound like a very good bed.

Have you tried a king size bed ? I sleep waaay better on a king size, for us that was a huge improvement in sleep quality.
