Default Cafe Stirs Debate Over Kids' Behavior

Quote:
Dan McCauley had seen one too many kids at his cafe lying on the floor in front of the counter, careening off the glass pastry case, coming perilously close to getting their fingers pinched in the front door. So he posted a sign: "Children of all ages have to behave and use their indoor voices."
Beauty....I wish more places did this sort of thing. I have kids and I have always attempted to control their behaviour in public places, and it ****es me off when parents let their kids run amok in public places as well.

Are you listening fotze? LOLOL

Control your damned kids in public!

Good for him. I can't stand it when parents act oblivious to the disruptions their kids are causing in public places. There are some parents that are really great and make sure they are watching and disciplining the kids when necessary, but some parents treat public outings like their chance to let others watch over their kids while they go and have a coffee. That drives me crazy. I remember once sitting in Timmy's with my friends and a little boy came and threw dirt from one of their potted plants at my friend for no reason. I got in a pretty big fight with the mother over it. I just couldn't understand why she didn't see this as a problem. She seemed to think it was cute. Okay, I'm done. Good for this guy for doing something about it.

The sign has become a lightning rod for a larger debate on parenting, namely, who gets to have a say about misbehaving children.

Who gets to have a say? Anyone who is affected by them.

I'm proud to say our kids have always behaved very well in public or in others' homes. They're the devil's seed at our house of course, but that I can handle.

Good for him for putting up that sign. And anyone who objects to it is an idiot. Some idiots will look for any avenue to complain about what he is doing. For example, saying that the sign means kids are not welcome...come on!

Man I hate people sometimes!

Brilliant, I absolutely despise parents who let their kids run around the restaurant when I'm trying to sit down and enjoy a good meal. Nevermind when they bump into your chair and causes you to spill your soup all over yourself.

As a parent of two hellions, I've never even thought twice about discipline in public. If they can't behave, we leave. They know the rules and at this point, don't even try to push me on this issue. If it take a sign to get parents to control their offspring, that a sad thing. What ever happened to common courtesy? I commend that man for trying to provide a nice enviroment for all his patrons.
