Spencer Bennett has another two goals tonight so far. Nine in nine games with the Giants.

I wonder how Tommy is doing back in Finland? I wonder if Kari Eloranta is still playing?

Im wondering how he factors into the Flames plans. Hopefully he can keep this up.

I believe he needs to be signed this year or we lose his rights.

I think Bennett has scored in every game since the trade. Pretty crazy. Wonder what's the difference between what he is doing or being played in Van over Portland.

I never have seen Portland play but I know they have two really good LWs in Niederreiter and Bartschi. It might just be that he was third on the depth chart in Portland and was not seeing as much ice time or PP time as he is now getting in Vancouver.

Honestly I think that too many of these reporters have swallowed the HF koolaid among other things.

I don't think that we have the worst prospect pool in the NHL by any stretch.

I look at Howse, Bouma, Rheinhart, Nemitz and think thats pretty positive

I look at Erixson, Negrin, Brody and I think . . . thats ok

Irving has taken a huge step forward this year as well.

The problem is the ready made callups, that we're short of up front, however my understanding is that Peleach and Negrin and to an extent Brodie could fit into an NHL roster.

Irving would probably be the most NHL ready of the bunch.

*Reinhart, Nemisz, Erixon, Brodie, hehe

If the Flames can get a top prospect in this years draft and perhaps at least one more top 60 pick our prospect pool will look much better, imo.

We have some solid depth, imo, but we are lacking the true blue chippers, mostly because we have not drafted high in the first round as of late.

Those kids aren't NHL ready. But definitely look to be on track to being able to play in the NHL. Unfortunately, predicting the future of a player that you never watch play is impossible and stupid. That's why HF is such a joke.

Just about every player we've taken in the last two drafts has a had a pretty decent progression in their development since being drafted.

This includes Reinhart, Leach, Ramage, Arnold, Ferland, Holland, Erixon, Howse, Bennett, Ortio and Patterson.

Does that mean they will all become NHL stars (or even NHL players)? Certainly not.

But it's a very promising sign that our drafting may be turning around.

Even the 2008 draft, with Nemisz, Bouma, Wahl and Brodie is looking like it might produce a couple of NHLers.

I think you are right about having to sign him. I hope he is worthy of signing with the Flames; he's 6'4", and could fill out to be a big winger.

Can he skate? And, if he's not a great skater, I wonder if he's one these guys who just needs to get stronger and "more coordinated" to get to a level where he can skate in the bigs. (The reason why I ask is because I thought I read somewhere where skating may be an issue for him.)

HF's talent analysis says his skating is average at best. Last updated in April of 2010, so I don't know if it's improved this last season.

However this was written in July of '09 by Christopher Ralph (whoever that is):

Quote:
Spencer Bennett: Another ’09 draftee, Connery noted: “(he) really struggled in the short distance passing when not given time or space. Made a lot of inaccurate passes and bobbled a lot of good passes. His hands need to get better.” Workman is more optimistic, although maybe a bit too much so, as he reported: “Has looked pretty good. Needs strength, but he does have the tools to make it. I suspect that he made the right decision by going the WHL route. The Flames would rather have him in WHL than American College hockey. That should tell you right there that they think highly of him. I like his speed and shot. I think he is a diamond in the rough.”

CBC mentioned on Sunday that the Heat were 15-1-2 this year when scoring 3 or more goals. When they don't, they are 4-19-2.

It's true. But they haven't had more than 3 goals in a game in quite a while. They could use Bancks back, or maybe Backlund back down.

Reinhart and Leach have been truly impressive this season. I wasn't happy when they were drafted, but this goes to show how little I know haha

Ryan Howse has now tied Mark Santorelli for the Chilliwack Bruins franchise lead in points with 183.

Edit: He has now surpassed that points lead and is now the all-time leader for the Bruins in points.

Is anyone able or willing to put those links back up that show all of our prospects?

My life has fallen apart since that was removed, it was so convenient to use, I know Reggie was upset about people not reporting stats or something but I really liked that format.
