The only shows I watch on Regular Prime Time is 'Parenthood' (Tuesday nights NBC) which my husband doesn't watch, and The Office- Also 'The League' is a great show on Thursday nights on FX (more of a guy show about 4 guys in a fantasy football league), but hilarious nonetheless. I watch that with hubby and my two boys and we laugh hysterically, very relative to real life.

Part me is debating why anyone wants to watch Big Love anymore after the abortion that was last season. It can't get any worse right?

Just try and avoid the trap many Americans fall in, and avoid watching pure garbage like CSI (any of the three), NCIS, Two and a Half Men, American Idol, and junk like that. Honestly watching football on CBS, and hearing that NCIS is the most watched drama, and Two and a Half Men is the most watched sitcom makes me sad.

Lets see:
The Wire- Great show, very powerful, and authentic. More of a manly show imo.
Oz- Rewatching the series for the second time. Also powerful, and more of a manly show.
The Sopranos- Great show, very suitable for both sexes. A must see, if you have already watched the first two seasons.
The Walking Dead- Only six episodes in, so it wouldn't require that much of a commitment.
Breaking Bad- Amazing show for the most part. But, the female characters are nauseating, and leave a lot to be desired. Cranston, and Aaron Paul hold that show together.
Mad Men- More of a slow paced, well thought out show. Not really my favorite, but I know many people who simply love it.
Lost- Will require an insane amount of commitment. Like many others, I was hooked instantly. It's a love/hate type of show though.
24- Could be right up your alley. New story lines every year, so it does not require the same commitment as others. Some seasons are obviously better than others, but season one was very good. Start there, and if it suits your tastes, keep going from there.
Boardwalk Empire- Not Sopranos good, but it's a story that needed to be told.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer- Same with Lost, it has more of a love/hate relationship. My brother loves both Buffy, and Angel. Great characters, writing, and suitable for both sexes. Might be worth checking out.
The Practice: Guilty pleasure. Got much worse as it went on, but I found it quite enjoyable. The same could be said for Boston Legal, and even Boston Public.
House- One of the better shows out there, that actually attracts viewers. Not as good as it would be if it were on HBO, but it's worth checking out on free TV.

I'll add more later...

I'm not quite understanding what people have against Two and a Half Men. Is it cool to hate it because it is popular or something?

Apart from the past two seasons, it has given me a laugh or two.

I really should get back into Soprano's, and I hear nothing but good things about Boardwalk Empire, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men (even though I've never been able to get into it, I'm going to give it a third try I think).

Hope that helps

It starts in 2 minutes. I didn't like last season either, but this is the 'final' season- and I've watched it this far.. Plus I LOVE Nikki.

I would agree with Sopranos...i watched the entire box set as well as all the seasons of Dexter with my girl and we both enjoyed them alot.

Sons of Anarchy is another gooder (not sure if its an HBO or Showcase production)

Then again we watched and loved all the old seasons of Melrose Place too so your results may vary

My wife is currently addicted to Entourage and is debating going back and watching all 5 seasons of The Wire again. Then again I married awesome, so it's tough to say if she's typical or not.

Don't watch How I Met Your Mother, because you'll just start to get disappointed with every passing episode. ie, the show goes from good to unwatchable.

Based on that list, you happen to watch The League?

It's not a show for everyone (I'm thinking there would be a lot more people who absolutely hate it than love it) but for those with similar tastes as above list I would recommend it to you. It's from FX, like It's Always Sunny, and while there is some occasionally bad episodes and almost uncomfortable parts it also has some of the funniest scenes I've seen on TV.

I need a good show to watch. I haveenjoyed such shows as:

The Wire
The Shield(just finished this up last night)
Sons of Anarchy
Dexter
Breaking Bad
Californication
Weeds(still watching)
Its always Sunny
The League

Started watching Party Down and its pretty funny so far. Check it out if you haven't seen it. Watched a couple episodes of Justified so far, not sure how I feel on that yet. Will give it a chance.

Any suggestions?

if you watch the Wire be prepared that it's only downhill after it

I heard it described as the great american novel and to me that fits perfect, its a long form story that is perfection

and I have told probly 6 people about it age ranges from 20-60 male and female who all loved it
