It would be a perfect fit considering Gruden's desire to have a star vetran quarterback and man could the Colts ever use someone like that. But I don't see it happening at all especially with Isray owning the team.
That being said, the Colts would benefit sooo much by having a guy like Gruden in charge. The Colts were out coached by a mile in the superbowl and again today.

Was able to win despite of that? He lead his team to a 10-6 record a year after leading them to an AFC Championship with the same glaring holes. The offense's troubles can be easily documented by the amount of 3rd and 1 stops. The Colts had no running game for most of the game and no respect at all shown to the offensive line.
Depth at WR? They had an un-drafted college walk on at WR, and Pierre Garcon who was a complete unknown in NFL Circles 13 months ago.
He struggled his way to a 33 TD 17 INT Division title season, on a team that only with Tom Brady as the QB, could you even make an argument they'd be in the playoffs.
You seem to be defending my point... Yes, he used to win despite no running game, he hasn't really had one since Edgerin James, but after Edge he was still winning, despite everyone knowing that he was going to throw the ball 40+ times a game
Yes, depth at wide reciever. I could probably make a book out of the names of players that were never drafted or never looked at in general who have made a team and excelled, just because they were not top draft picks doesn't mean they are not considered good recievers now, which gives them, yes. Depth.
He had a decent, DECENT regular season but his division title came in the last week over a Jacksonville team in a pretty weak division. His stats look better than what his performance shows, as he had a healthy amount of multi TD games on weaker teams at the beginning of the season and most of his later interceptions came at bad times, late in the game when he wasn't throwing TDs to balance it out. He could have been better this year and he could have done better tonight.
I'm not pointing the finger solely at him, however, management has felt that they can skip by on his passes and shoulders while failing to address the run game, lb or cb position

Blair White is not depth. Blair White is not a strong wide receiver and struggled a ton this year. Anthony Gonzalez, Austin Collie, that's depth.
Peyton had a DECENT year by his own standards, 3/4's of the QB's in this league would kill for that kind've decent year. He did not have a great game either tonight, but he also lead this team down for a winning field goal with 50 seconds left.
But your point of him losing a step and Reggie Wayne?!?!?! because of his performance tonight against the NFL's best cornerback. A guy who just came of a 1,400 yard season?! Who had to pretty much create everything by himself with how much defense's keyed on him with so many injury's.
Your assessment is right in a lot of ways, but I can guarantee you the entire NFL and Rex Ryan would beg to differ that Reggie Wayne and Peyton Manning have lost a step.
So just like to say the Seahawks game was the best game I've ever been to. Pre-game Sean Payton flipped the bird at us for talking trash to Reggie Bush when he was stretching.....unreal atmosphere all I gotta say.

Pretty bush league from a head coach if you ask me. What were you saying to Reggie?

Still no where near enough to lose his job.
The Colts secondary has been decimated by injuries...which though not an excuse for losing is certainly a reason.
As for the challenge flag ( I assume thats what you are referring too) that inevitably is a call made by the coaches in the booth who have a chnace to see replays long before the coach does....they whiffed on this one badly though, I will give you that. If you mean the timeout towards the end of the game...not sure that it made a big difference.
At any rate....Caldwell is Polians guy and was groomed for his current position all along, and as important he is Mannings guy. I simply see no possible way he is even remotely in trouble. His success is unprecedented in that no team he has ever coached on since entering the league has missed the playoffs.
i will say this though...one more year of going backwards and people will start bellowing for sure...then again I may be totally wrong and he is in hot water but I have neither heard nor read anything that indicates that.

Every team he has coached on has had Peyton Manning, one of the best quarterbacks of all time. The timeout at the end still baffles me. New York has one timeout with under 30 seconds left and look more then content just to try the 50 yard field goal with only one timeout left. You could see how much Peyton disagreed with the move on the sideline.
He brought in two friends as his co-ordinators, and once again the Colts struggled with special team coverage and returns, run defense and running the ball. The only reason this team made it this far is Manning.
His name hasn't been mentioned nor has he come close at all to even being mentioned in risk of losing his job, nor has the discussion even been had by many. The Colt's do not panic though and have stayed the course with the coaching staff and players after playoff loses. But this could be a little bit different with Peyton's contract up this offseason. It's going to be the last contract he signs as a pro and more then ever, he's got to believe that he can win a championship with Caldwell moving forward. It was obvious Peyton wanted to keep playing @ 14-0 last year, just like it was obvious that Caldwell got outcoached in the Superbowl and against the Jets tonight. More then ever, Peyton is going to have a say in what happens with this organization going forward and what he thinks this team needs.
This might just be my bias speaking, as I'd much rather have a much more vocal and hard nosed coach for the Colts after the last decade of Dungy and Calldwell.
Colts game this year similar to the Pats loss to the Ravens last season. Both teams were dragged to the playoffs by superstar QB's, had running game problems, and glaring holes.
In the end both teams were not good, but because they had a Manning/Brady everyone kind of just expected them to be able to win.
The Colts were not a good team this season. Too many holes, too many injuries.
NE retooled in the offseason. Look for Indy to retool and be back as a 12 win team next season.

The difference however was New England's draft picks they have something like 23 first or second year players on the 53 man squad. Indy doesnt stockpile draft picks like NE and have had little success as of late in the draft. If Indy is going to rebuild it will be through free agency and staying healthy.

Staying healthy is the biggest key. When you talk about losing 10 DB's to IR and missing the players they did on offense, health is easily the top priority. I don't get the Colts having little success of late in the draft. The 2009 draft outside of Donald Brown, was one of Polian's best in my mind. Collie, Powers, Moala, McAfee, Thomas all picked after the first round. It's still to early to call the 2010 draft class a bust, especially with the injury's this team has had but when you look at the entire Colts roster can you even name a single free agent?

I should have clarified they don't have a lot of picks like new england has had (4 in the top 2 rounds last year) and 4 in the top 2 this year. In regards to drafting failures i was more referring to the top 2 rounds over the past couple of years however i do think Jerry Hughes can be a player hes just blocked by 2 of the best in the business. Colts and Pats are both pretty good at getting late round talent but im talking about pro bowl players, most of those come from the early rounds. Only FA i can think of is Vinateri but regardless your right the Colts dont need a full rebuild mode they just need a couple good picks and as you state to stay healthy.
Does Bob Sanders come back next year? Personally i think they cut ties with him i dont see how they justify the money for 6 games max..

That's totally a valid point, and the Colts have been brutal in recent years with their top overall pick.
Bob Sanders has to be the most frustrating player to have on your team, but I think the Colts give him one more year.
Spot challenges are a sure way to burn a time out. Mind you the Chiefs defence is probably already gassed and the game isn't 10 minutes old. Baltimore look like men playing against boys right now. Flacco is shredding the Chiefs on 3rd down.
