I'm withholding judgement on Season 5 but it has really taken a turn towards the brilliant. Let's hope it continues going that direction. I prefer Lumen as a secondary character who helps motivate Dexter but doesn't become his partner in crime.
The other seasons in order of preference go 4, 1, 2, 3. Seasons 1 and 4 had some of the best TV moments that I have seen.
I didn't love 2 or 3...especially compared to seasons 1 and 4.
Season 4 is my favorite. I enjoyed season 2 and 3 more than most here seemed to have.
Given today is Thanksgiving in the States, I think it's appropriate to note that I think the Thanksgiving scene from season 4 is one of the greatest pieces of dramatic television ever filmed. Pure brilliance!

Yeah, that was definitely an unexpected twist. I'm sure it will get explored more in the next two before the end of the season. Man, this is shaping up for bad, bad news for Dexter IMO. The whole season I mean.
God damn do I ever love this show. Another great episode.
The Emily / Jordan Chase scene was a huge WTF moment. Dying to know what their relationship is all about.
Perhaps she's not the first victim, but instead, #6 of the gang. Or both...?
No, she's the first victim. Remember Jordan telling her that he just asked her to tell the truth. But it demonstrates Jordan's charismatic hold over some people. He's the one pulling the strings that made everything happen.
This season is starting to feel like season two where you have to wonder how Dexter cannot possibly get exposed. Although Robocop is no Doakes. Man, I miss Doakes.

I'm leaning towards the "both" option. I think the story she told Lumen was true (based on her later conversation with Chase), but she wasn't as horrified by it as she let on.
I'm betting she's the one running the video camera. I get the impression that Jordan is more of an observer/puppet master for the rest of the group.
If Lumen dies, I'm going to guess that Emily does it after Lumen/Dexter kill Jordan.

Agreed. Definitely one of the best Dexter characters ever.
What was great about Doakes was that he was a good guy who was in the unfortunate position of sensing the darkness of the show's protagonist. He wasn't a bad guy, unlike Quinn whose uneasiness about Dexter was the result of his own misdeeds, and that made him a far more complex character than the bad guys who have been Dexter's nemesises since then.
I loved the scene in which Dexter provoked Doakes into beating the crap out of him.
What i hope they don't do with the story line is turn it into a Bonnie and Clyde sort of thing with Dexter and Lumen.
I wonder if Quinn figures out what Dexter is up to, and since he's killing off the scum, Quinn lets it go on if Dex kills that P.I. guy who Quinn wants out of his life.
Damn fine show! I wish it was on every day like a soap. lol
I think it's Stockholm's syndrome. She was the first victim and is also special to Jordan Chase. In some ways she's a living version of Dexter's blood slides. She's too scared to leave (remember what Jordan Chase said about toxic relationships?) even though she's terrified of him.
One of the things this show loves to explore (in addition to the killers themselves) is the people around serial killers and the impact it has on them. We've seen it with Rita, Deb, the "stupid c*nt" (can't remmeber her name) and now Emily. With the last two, the killer has had a sick kind of power over them that keeps them around.
Emily is going to be some kind of PO'd when Dexter kills off Jordan "Eugene" Chase...
