Default Pat downs at the Airport - Too Far?

I didn't see this topic anywhere, so my apologies if this is a fata.

This past week, there have been many instances gate rape at airports across North America, which led to some one person having their catheter pulled out spilling urine on the passenger, and a woman who survived breast cancer having their breast prosthetic removed.

Is this really what things have come down to. So much for personal liberties. There is no real way that airplanes can be secure because if there's a will, there's a way.

Plus if you've seen some of the people that have been patted down, if they actually are a terrorist, then really, the war on terror is over and everybody lost.

there was also an instance where a boy, whose father removed the shirt to help speed up the process was patted down. Like seriously, what is a pat down on a boy with no shirt on going to achieve?

father was visibly upset, and bystanders were wondering if they were harassing the kid.

that stuff is mentioned in that link you posted too.

It really in some cases have gone too far. Better training in all aspects are needed: the procedure, health issues, and kids to name a few.

On the radio, they told a story about a woman that somehow, either accidentally or on purpose, had her bare breasts exposed during a "pat down". In her complaint, she said that one of the workers jokingly complained and another told him not to worry because they'll be watching the video again later anyway.

I think this is the story here:

Here's a blog post from someone who managed to avoid getting gate raped and how he did it. http://noblasters.com/post/1650102322/my-tsa-encounter

I think it is save to say that the terrorists have won..

I used to go to the States (or connect via) 3 or 4 times a year. After a particularly harassing security inspection in NJ in 2008, I vowed to never touch American soil again. Now, business meetings come to me, and I vacation in Canada or through direct flights from Canada.

My only fear is that Canada is moving down enforce the same level of "Security". We're the epitome of "Monkey see, monkey do".

We're being terrorized by "Security" agents making $8.50/hr......pretty sure the terrorists have won.

Although I am not all for the pat downs I think they are our best alternative. The other alternative being a terrorist with a bomb comes aboard my flight.

I am all up for all the safety measures they can put in place to ensure my safety on any given flight.

Also, for the record, I am an east indian and have experienced some of the worst airport discrimination out there.

These people are only being pat down because they were unwilling to go through the scanner.

Quit being whiny dinks and get pat down before you board a plane. Don't like it? Take the bus.

If you want to pitch fear to win elections this is what you get.

I guess when people want their goverment to fight terrorism they really didnt mean themselves.

Go ahead. Go for my junk. I'll have a big smile on my face if you get me there without being blown up.

I was patted down in September. No big deal.

People are too jumpy these days. Stupid human rights.

Nude Flying. And you get to sit next to the smelly fat dude.

Look into at Israel's airport security, and compare it to the USA's methodology. Huge difference in style, results and passenger respect.

The thing that gets me......terrorists need to drive to the airport before they can get on the plane. I think the police should be empowered to perform pat downs on anyone operating a motor vehicle. Then again, terrorists could use bicycles to get to the airport, or perhaps a cab, or maybe even walk. Perhaps we should just force everybody to walk around completely naked all day......so we can "Be safe".

They claim they've found weapons through this intrusiveness. You know what would go a long way in making the case for this? Proof. They'll release the security video to refute some claims made by someone about what happened to them, why not release the security video of finding these dangerous weapons?

I'm more likely to be hit by lightning 10 times than I am being killed in a terrorist attack, I think the cost/benefit ratio of giving up certain liberties is a bit out of whack.

I'd hazard a guess that they don't want to release videos of weapons being found because they don't want people thinking air travel is unsafe.

Can't even begin to imagine how delicate their PR needs to be on this.

I would think a bomb would be easier to get on a plane via luggage, freight, food service, maintenance or cleaning operations.

Actually it's much different. The TSA pat downs go waaaaay farther than anything you're getting anywhere else, with the exception of a chinese massage parlor.

Because hearing about how it is necessary to practically molest infants to ensure safety is so much more reassuring...

I got pat down at calgary airport going to mexico because I didn't want to use the scanner and it was exactly like going to a concert. Was not that bad at all people need to grow up and just deal with it. It isn't that big of a deal for 99 percent of people. Sure there are few cases sexual assault and what not but with the amount of people who fly everyday there will always be a couple of these
