So after getting my braces off two years ago, my dentist says I need to get my wisdom teeth removed because there isn't enough space after having braces. Turns out all four of them are impacted. He referred me to an oral surgeon. But a friend of mine who had four impacted remove from the same oral surgeon said the bill over $3000, and it was not a very good job. So I'm exploring my options. I can't go to every office because most of them charge consultation fees. So I was wondering is anyone had any suggestions for good places with reasonable prices. I do have insurance that covers up to $1000 but I'm a university student so I'm not rich either. I'm not picky on the sedation (IV is fine). I've heard good things about Dr. Ryan Goos and Dr. Richard Edwards. Anyone have experiences with either of them and their prices? Any suggestions is appreciate. Thanks
if you're a U of C student, and didn't opt out of the medical/dental plan, you'll be reimbursed for 50% of the cost for 2 wisdom teeth/year. If you have additional coverage, bonus, get two done this year, two next...works really well if you can get it done at the end of august, then the other two in the beginning of september...less recovery and the end of august and beginning of september are in different enrolment years, thus both are compensated by your plan.

Financially this make sense, but man I wouldn't wanna go through that procedure twice, especially if they're impacted. Mine weren't impacted so I had no swelling whatsoever and was munching down on smoked meat sandwiches in Montreal 5 days after the surgery.
The place I went to was in the southport buildign (above Golf Plus and across from Earls) just off McLeod Trail.
the girl in the next recovery bed peed her pants when she went under. They tell you to go pee, but she obviously didn't and peed her pants.
I went here too, just recently. Dr. Stephen Bureau, but they've got a few guys in there. Had 2 impacted, put me under and the recovery was quick and much easier than expected as I'm in my 30's. Highly recommend this guy. Was $2500.
I went to Goos and Edwards. Edwards did mine. He did a great job. I don't really remember much of the procedure. Most of the swelling was gone in a few days, and with the pain killers they gave me, I didn't suffer very long.
I had mine done at Brisebois Dental last year. It cost about $1,800. Now, if price is an issue, I can do it in my basement. I have handcuffs, 3 bottles of vodka and a nice set of bits for my drill...
LOL at Pinner putting me in his signature. It's all in good fun!
And as for the thread- I went to the one on Southport Road in the red brick building. Got knocked out, woke up and was fine. Drooled and bled until the freezing came out, drank some ice water, and it never bled again. Never had any infection or problems healing, and had no loose bits of tooth. Although, I didn't eat for 10 days (lost 20 lbs I bet).
Not sure of the cost, but for ease of recovery and surgery itself, I have to recommend them.
Another vote for Dr. Whitestone. When I went to him several years ago he was in the tall building on South Port road by Moxies (behind the shorter building with Golf Plus).
