The Caps put in a solid all-around effort to calm the Hurricanes.

Washington outshot the Hurricanes 36-16 and had 3 different lines contribute to the scoring. Great effort overall.

Stupid Weiss....1st game as a Pen and he blows his shootout attempt that could have extended the game. All in all a tight game with Atlanta on the road. Not disappointed with a point here.

Devan Dubynk with his 2nd start and 2nd win of the season. He had a great game making 37 saves. Milan Hejduk finally scored his first of the year and Brian Sutherby scored the game winning goal in the 3rd period. This is the 2nd win of the year vs the Wild this season.

Yeah... oddly enough this was his first goal of the year. However, he has 10 assists to go along with it. As long as he puts up points I do not mind.

Wild continue to struggle. Not sure what's wrong right now but may need to pull a big move off.

Really nice to see the new guys put up some points, Kuba and Galiardi with goals and Fleischmann with an assist. Looks like the 2nd line with Lombardi and Erat has really gelled nicely.

Shot total is still way too high so I will have to move the sliders and some players around but overall I am pretty happy with the results.

Also, can you imagine this slap fest:

Phaneuf comes through big time in his first game with 2 points and was +4. Hopefully this new lineup turns things around in Montreal.

Thrashers get a 4-3 SO win over the Penguins. Pretty good result for us considering Marian Hossa and Roman Polak both did not dress as they got the game off due to fatigue. Battled back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits to send it to a shootout. Alex Tanguay got a goal in the SO to extend the game in the 3rd round and then Dan Cleary won it in the 4th round. Frans Nielsen had 2 goals in regulation for the Thrashers.
