Simple. I set a fresh challenge, and then achieve it.

Over the years I've learned how to cook various dishes, run a 10k, trap shoot, play the harmonica (poorly), ride a motorcycle, lost 40+ pounds, further my education, and do all kinds of volunteer work for no other reason than I felt stagnant and bored.

What do you do feel you're doing on a daily basis that's so repetitive and depressing?

Are you younger or older? Are you on a career track or stalled and aimless?

Is money something that's holding you back from activities you'd like to enjoy (travel, restaurants, etc)?

Hey, somebody's got to be nosy in this thread.

Long walks in the country, volunteerism in the community . . . . simple things like that can work.

Walk into an elevator and face the wall. See what kinda comments you get.
Or bring a hairdryer into your car as you drive and point it at other cars as they pass.

i work 9 hour days sitting in front of a computer, designing and drafting custom homes. i am 32 yrs old. money is something that holds me back from doing a lot of things, yes, but i don't crave more money. my girlfriend is a nurse, and she works shift work. sometimes we don't have any time off together for a week or two. we also both seem to want to be living a different lifestyle, so i guess it's hard to find the pleasure of our day-to-day, when we dream of doing something completely different.

Wow....blunt honesty, nice.

Sounds like you need a 1-person, active hobby. Something to look forward to and something that is (primarily) for you and only you. Mixing with a new crowd probably wouldn't hurt either, I'm guessing?

I don't know you so I can't really make a custom recommendation. If you're into long-term challenges, perhaps archery? It's something that anyone can do, but takes practice to become truly good. Sort of like golf.

i find being self-employed and working from home that i need to get out so i don't lose it!

i play hockey at least twice/week
i play bass guitar - so i regularly get together with others and 'slappa da bass'
last christmas my wife gave me a dslr - so i've picked up photography this past year - really fun & challenging

i find the hockey and bass playing are awesome becuz i get to hang out with friends and b.s. with them for hours!!

like others have mentioned - find something that you've wanted to do and just do it!

i should add that i do play hockey once a week with the boys, complete with booze and smokables. it's a great time! i have a beautiful 4 yr old labrador that keeps me grounded and walking regularly.

i'm not ready to go postal, but i do wake up some days and stare at ceiling thinking "why the hell am i continuing this drudgery?"

Play more hockey. The games are never the same twice.

Edit: I'm pretty sure you can make punishment bingo work in conjunction with the rest of the stuff on my list, though I"m not sure if knitted erotic clothes would be a prize or punishment.

I usually boot up an old video games system, wind up playing punchout, Super Punchout, Techmo Bowl, Super Metroid. Anything old school re-energizes me.
