Default Comedian, Last Comic Standing judge Greg Giraldo dead at 44

Quote:
Comedian Greg Giraldo died Wednesday (September 29) at age 44 from a reportedly accidental prescription-drug overdose. Giraldo had been hospitalized in New Brunswick, New Jersey after he overdosed on prescription pills last weekend. According to TMZ, the overdose was not a suicide attempt.

Giraldo reportedly collapsed Saturday evening in his hotel room in New Jersey, where he was performing at a club. He was discovered by friends after he failed to show up for his scheduled performance. He was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Jim Norton confirmed the news via Twitter, including a picture with his fellow comedian: "Greg Giraldo passed away today. This is the last photo of us together, taken June 28 at Noam's wedding. RIP buddy."

Seriously, that's insane... Wow. Heart goes out to his family. he's probably one of the few comics on that show that I was hoping to catch live.

ya echo comments here but...how in the living hell does one "accidentally" OD on prescription pills? Seriously.
I absolutely know that if I take too many I will OD...is there different rules in the USA? Like take as many as you want at your own risk? Did the pill bottle accidentally spill into his mouth and then he accidentally swallowed them? fark?
Further...how would the people that found him know he "accidentally" OD'd? Did he leave a note saying so?
Call me a skeptic.

My grandpa almost died because of a overdose on prescription pills. The pharmacist gave him the wrong pills so it's possible. And by wrong I mean they were the right pills but wrong strength in each pill.

Sadly it happens not infrequently. Sometimes there can be synergistic effects when you are taking multiple drugs simultaneously, especially worse if you mix with alcohol. A classmate of mine died this way, as did notables like Heath Ledger, Britanny Murphy, Anna Nicole-Smith.

Easily the best guy on the roasts. God that sucks. I went thru like an hour of Giraldo clips on youtube, like not even a week ago. He just owned some people. That's awful.

Does overdosing on prescription drugs make it better than overdosing on heroin? In this case was it just him taking too many pills that he legitimately needed, or too much oxy that was written by some offshore pharmacy.

He was great on the Roasts, though I've heard his albums are good.

And as good as he was on the Roasts, I think my favourite moments with him are when other comedians would get him, and the camera would cut to him looking dumbfounded.

That's really too bad. He was the best judge on Last Comic Standing as well.
