I don't know what magic words you guys are using, or if Calgary is different than Winnipeg or something, but I couldn't get much of anything.
I am moving at the end of the month so I figures since they have to send someone to set up the service I might as well see what I can get.
The best they offered me was 80$ (20 less than I'm paying now without the phone) a month for a year for Digital TV, High speed internet and Home phone.....I didn't even want the home phone but they wouldn't offer me that promotion unless the phone was included.
So I called MTS and ordered their service for their standard 6 month promotional price which still is saving me more money than the shaw offer
So I then called Shaw to disconnect my services, and I kind of half expected to be redirected to retentions but nope...they just disconnected no questions asked.
I am just a bit surprised considering Shaw is in direct competition with MTS, and they offered me Jack squat.....maybe I'm just not a skilled negotiator.

I phoned Shaw and have been on hold for 53:31. WOW! I'm going to go for a full hour, then give up.

Don't they have the call back option? Just enter your number and watch tv/surf for porn.

Shaw came to install a new modem/router and didn't hook it up so I have no internet and waited for an hour last night on hold since the call back option didn't come up. Stupid shaw I wish telus would have been available in my area

Don't know just hooked it up and left. Tried going on internet and couldn't. Finally got problem solved today when I called shaw. But the router they give you seems to be crap. Will probably be asking for the old modem back.

Similar thing happened to me on Saturday. They came to hook up my HD-PVR free rental and I wasn't getting any channels. I called shaw and they said that the installer had not processed the work order yet to activate the channels etc. The next day still not working call Shaw again and they said the work order was processed and did whatever they do on their end and it worked. Why did I have to call them twice to get this working? (Still better than Telus IMO)

Not to mention the installer walks in with his big headphones on eating a giant carrot. He ate the carrot the whole time he was installing the box even after he dropped in on my rug. I wouldn't eat stuff off my own rug, lol. And of course he is talking to me while he is eating his carrot like bugs freakin bunny. This is why I wanted to pick up and install the box on my own but they were out of stock at the customer service.

Wow so after reading this thread I decided to call Shaw, only had my HD TV package with them. Phone and internet was with Telus.
But without any haggling, I asked how much notice I'd need to give if I were going to cancel my service and right away my Customer Service agent offered me almost everything right off the bat for $90.90.
Eventually I agreed and now I'm getting for $90.90/month:
Full Digital Package plus HD Basic and HD Plus
Free rental for a PVR
Extreme Internet
Basic Phone Package w/ Voicemail, Call Forwarding, Call Display and Unlimited Calling to Canada and US
All guaranteed for one year.
Think that's quite the deal, thanks to everyone who gave their results here.

I called and basically got the same deal as everyone else.
I'd like to personally thank everyone on this thread and the Rogers VS every other carrier thread. Now between my phone bill and my cable/internet bill I'm saving close to a hundred bucks a month.
Sweet deal.

So is everyone just calling Shaw and getting good deals or what?
I want to get HD tv and I want two HD boxes (at least 1 PVR), and telus has been pressuring us to sign with them.
I am thinking that if I tell Shaw customer service that Telus wants us to sign with them that Shaw will give us a deal. Right now we got everything through them, phone, internet, tv. Not to mention my mom's tv box is completely hooped.
Should I just phone in and complain to get a better deal or threaten to leave?

Make sure you talk to retention. I only sort of had to pretend I was gonna cancel when I talked to Bell.
In all honesty, Shaw could offer me unlimited PVRs and every HD channel for free and I'd say no. Their hardware sucks, their menu sucks, their channel ordering sucks.
I pretty much hate everything about Shaw.

Motorola DCX 3400 is the new PVR. I wouldn't hold out for a free one unless you want Sunday ticket or Center Ice. If they kick up a stink the Motorola DCT 6416 III is suitable, since it will handle the external hard drive.

Fotze, go to Telus's website and create a bundle and write down what you would get and the price. Call up Shaw and ask the CSR what your cancelation cost would be and if you are in a contract. Pretend you don't know the answers to these questions.
When they ask why, tell them that you got a price from Telus and it seems to be cheaper than what you get plus you get a free PVR and are really interested in the PVR Anywhere functionality because you would like one in your bedroom as well. They should ask if they could talk to you about staying with them and transfer you to retentions. Stress the PVR anywhere functionality and they should throw a free PVR rental your way and come up with a lower bundle price.

I called, had to wait forever to talk to the right person, but I got the same deal as everyone else it seems:
Free HDPVR rental for 1 year
Extreme internet (15 Mpbs down)
Digital TV + HD Plus (all sports and some other stuff in HD and all the regular channels)
Unlimited North American long distance phone
All for $84.95
I called, said that I wanted to cancel my internet (All I had with shaw). They asked why, I said that Telus talked to me and offered tv, internet and phone for "like 90 bucks" and they throw in an Xbox. The lady did some talking and asked questions about what exactly I had with Telus and I just played like I wasn't exactly sure. Anyways, eventually I said what can you offer me if you want me to stay and the above is what was offered. I took it.
Hope that helps

I called tonight and made some progress. I did the whole "how much notice do you need to cancel", got the answer, and then...nothing. In my head I was like "uhhh no questions?" so I just went "ah yeah, Telus gave me this deal blah blah".
She told me that she was only helping out right now and didn't have any codes, but she would forward my info to someone to take care of me. She looked at my record and said "I'm certain we can take good care of you, looking at what you have now", so I'm pretty confident I'll get the same deal everyone else is quoting.

I found that I had to type the quadrant (e.g. SE) in the address field, and not select the quadrant from the drop down.
