They just "caught up" when it comes to folders, customizable backgrounds, front-facing cameras and multitasking. Someday maybe they will "catch up" in offering access to apps outside the store, or more than one form factor, such as a larger screen or hardware keyboard.

If you look at the pace of innovation, I would agree that the iPhone is no longer the leading edge of mobile technology.
Most of what you’ve listed, with the exception of the screens, is hardly what I’d call innovative or at the leading edge of anything in the mobile space. Every feature you’ve listed, except for the screen and the front facing camera, has been in existence since the very first Windows Mobile phones, and even Windows CE before that.

There hasn’t been much innovation in the mobile space at all recently, in my opinion. Tons of feature parity at the macro level, and lots of iterative design improvements have characterized the last several years, iPhone, Android, and BB included.

Would you suggest that PCs are better than Macs because more software is available for them, or would you say that each has plenty for what people need?
I'd say that PC's have an advantage because there is more software available for them.

Well, duh!

Of course the Android manufacturers are going to try and surpass the current iPhone. How can Apple stay ahead of its competitors until it releases it's next version of the iPhone? It's not possible unless Apple shortens its iPhone release schedule.

I agree and think that would be required if this was going to act as a cell phone.

With Google's latest comment that Android 2.2 isn't optimized for tablets and the insinuation by many tech blogging sites that the Android market may not work, I think I will definitely want to wait and see what the first round of buyer has to say about the product.

Do I ever hope the reviews are positive though, this things looks like a beast!
