I don't get it. How can you take any pleasure in a victory when you had to cheat? It's sad if you derive self-esteem from winning on-line games with strangers.

People are competitive enough that just winning is satisfaction enough. My favorite FPS is Counter-Strike, the game is full of people wall hacking, aimboting, speed hacking ect. You just become proficient at noticing the signs and eventually they get banned. Old starcraft had issues with map hackers, they could literally see the entire map without scouting.

I was the other observer in Iambeast vs Flames0910 and I wouldn't say he did anything suspicious to accuse him of cheating.

First of all, when he was moving his army out, he sent a reaper to the watch tower which revealed your expansion. If you watch the replay it should be clear that your expansion was detected by his reaper.

Second, he saw your void rays early in the game. As any players would do, he put turrets down by his command center and by the barracks up front. I don't this it had anything to do with your dt.

What I also don't get - who has time to watch other people play Starcraft?

This seems reasonable to me. Beast, did you watch the replay with just 0910's vision on before accusing him of cheating? 'cause I bet that would pretty much clarify everything.

I found it funny, not only you hit my expance without scouting.... but i built my dt's over there so you wouldn't know what i was doing if u scanned my base...and yet you had turrents to detect them.....that whole game left like i was running up hill...

Either no more obs in the games, or i'm out of the tourny.....I don't mind loosing, new game...still figuring stuff out.....but this is screwed up
Torture and I are brothers, yes. We do not live in the same house yet alone the same room (I live in Okotoks; he lives in Calgary). If he was instant messaging or text messaging me, you could probably watch for APM spikes. I wouldn't be opposed to meeting Blaster for a coffee and showing him my phone's messaging history if you really feel that is necessary.

Anybody who has read these forums (hell, go back a few pages in this thread) can see that I hate DT's and still haven't found a great way to beat them. I went into the game on edge because they're fairly common as a harassment technique in PvT. That being said, building a turret at your entrance isn't so strange at all and I do it quite often for detection because it's cheaper than blowing a scan (which is like 300 minerals in opportunity cost). You had a Twilight Council which I saw quite early in the game so I knew there was a chance of Templar. Furthermore, you had void rays - why wouldn't I build a turret?

As for the scouting - I feel like I'm repeating myself because I've already explained this to you so let me make it clear: At 12:10 in the replay, a reaper activates the Xel'Naga Watch Tower providing line of sight across a distance and granting vision of your expansion. If you watch the mouse clicks in the replay you'll see that my army was on route across the map and changed direction when I saw that. They didn't move to your expansion until I actually had vision of it. It's quite common for players to jump onto a tower on there way across the map. Don't be so surprised that I found your expansion - it wasn't in that strange a spot and it was a very small map.

Really, you're being a sore loser. That's why I said this leaves a sour taste in my mouth. You lost because you played a game that relied on trickery, finger-tenting and "i hope he doesn't see this" - that doesn't work as often at higher levels and you got caught. So instead you're accusing me of cheating? Thanks.

Why would I cheat in the early rounds of a friendly, local tournament with no prize? I make no effort to hide my real name here so the consequences to my reputation just don't make sense.

I still feel that it wouldnt hurt to eliminate observation of the matches. That way there is no complaints or hard feelings from the defeated party. If there is dispute in the outcome a quick ffwd through the replay should suffice.

I have no problem with obsevers, I think it was actually Flames0910 who saw my match with Torture and gave me some very useful tips after I lost. Now that I know they don't live at the same location, and therefore most likely not able to take advantage of looking on eachother's screens, I have no problem with anyone of them observing my matches. Of course if you don't want an observer in your match, that should be allowed too. And it may be advisable not to have ppl in your group observe your matches if you don't want them learning your tendancies..

I'd like a panel of 5 observers, all of varying cultural background, political and religious beliefs. The victor should be determined using a two-tiered ranking system, based on results and on APM. If the scoring results are inconclusive, then the two opponents must face off in a game of Nexus Wars to determine the victor.

Also, no fat chicks.

Part of me thinks this guy signed up just for the SC tournament. What name did you use before that you got banned with, Korsik?

You don't have to live together to cheat. I can watch as a spectator and vent on vent or teamspeak and give you a play by play. Thats where I find it weird in these tournaments that they actually let them be podcast live.

And I'm not saying anyone is cheating just saying you don't have to be sitting beside the person to do it.

In the big tournaments it's media though. Each person is representing a website so its their job...
