Default Contact Lens Solution

I've been using ClearCare for the past year or so, but lately its starting to piss me off. I have a lot of late nights and early mornings, and despite getting my contacts into the solution for 6+ hours every night, in the morning when I put them into my eyes they burn like hell. Takes about 5 min before I can even open up my eyes.

So, I'm looking for suggestions of what else I could use. I would prefer not to have to clean my contacts with my finger every night.

Is there a chance your container is a little on the un-clean side? If I don't give my cases a very good cleaning every few days my eyes start to hurt too.

I had this same problem when I started wearing contacts. I switched to the Bausch & Lomb solution made for sensitive eyes. That solved the problem for me, and I've used that solution ever since.

That could very well be considering that you get one case to put the contacts in for every 2 big bottles. Especially if you buy the bigger bottles at Costco.

How do you wash them? Just a good rinsing with hot water?

What about wearing glasses every once in a while?

When I don't get much sleep, I always wear my glasses the next day. I just find it a pain putting in my contacts and having them feel good when I feel like crap.

The little disc in the bottom of the clearcare case may be worn out (or defective if it is a new case). That is the "catalytic converter" that turns the Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) into H2O and O . I would probably switch cases. I beleive you can buy them individually at Drugstores/grocery stores.

It is also possible that your eyes are extra sensitive when you are lacking sleep... on those days putting the contacts into another solution works as well. Clearcare is the best solution for cleaning the Contacts, so that should still be used on a regular basis.

Seems odd, I use the same solution and with 1 case for every 2 big bottles I never have any issues. Have you considered seeing your optometrist? Maybe there is something else going on.

Clear care doubles the amount of time I can wear my contacts for and they no longer get blurrier as they get older. I heart that stuff.

Saw him 2 weeks ago and he said everything was fine. My problem only started this past week.

Well, I get one case with every 2 bottles, so I replace it when the two bottles run out. I would love to replace it with every bottle, so if I can buy them individually, I'll start doing that.

Really? That is awesome. I'll check for that next time. Being able to buy those cases alone would be a Godsend, since every 2 bottles is a bit long for 1 case.

What kind of solution should I use? I use Clearcare every night, but would like to have something that works faster than 6 hours that I can use when I have late nights, early mornings.

Do you rub your contacts when you clean them? I find that swapping cases, and gently rubbing each lens (in the palm of your hand with lots of solution) for 30 seconds before thoroughly rinsing usually solves the problem. Obviously you want REALLY clean hands.

Well the whole idea of using Clearcare is that I don't have to touch them. I hate doing it because the contacts tear to easily.

Any of them should work as part time solutions. If you have had issues with Solution Sensitivity in the past you can use the B and L Sensitive Eyes solution ... It seems to work really well for part time situations.

Thanks for your advice in these types of threads, Hesla. I always appreciate it.
