Anyone here own a Civic and try fitting a board in the back? I'm thinking about switching cars to a Civic (enviro-friendly) but I want to be able to fit a 7"3 surf board in back with the back seats down. Anyone know if it'll fit well?

I can't speak definitively as I haven't tried, but IMO... zero f'ing chance. I can't fit a board inside my Subaru Forester, which is bigger than the Civique. Roof racks. Unless you mean between the front seats, but even then, I think it's doubtful.

Last week, we did it in a Mitsu Lancer with the board sticking in through the front seats... I do see roof racks for Civics but surf boards are so huge I wondered if aerodynamically, it would be a pain to drive on the highway. But I guess I had no problems with skiies in Canada.

Kayaks are even bigger and I see plenty of cars driving around with them on top.

I see smallish cars with boards on top going down the motorway (100+ km/h) all the time so it seems like it's ok. I tried it with the board through the seats once, but my car is a standard and it was beyond awkward to drive. The board was a mini-mal though, so it was quite wide near the front.
