Default Need good defensement for adult rec hockey

Hi I am looking for some good skating and experienced defensemen to play in adult rec hockey. The league is HNA. Skill level is mid. Basically in a division where everybody can skate. Cost is approx $575 per player for 30 games + playoffs. Group age is average 30. Plus you must buy our team jersey which is $110. But payments can be made for the league fees. Message me for more info.

How many players do you go with? That seems pretty cheap for HNA. We go with 13 (3 full lines and 4 d-men) and it's $700 each.

Can you define good skating?

I can skate , but as a 35 year old....I'm about 65% of what I used to have for speed. Used to be that I could easily outskate the 35 year old guys who once played in the dub or other junior leagues and almost keep up with the ex junior/pro players who were mid 20's....now the 35 year old former WHL players can outskate me, and the mid 20's ex junior will blow by me pretty easy.

If by good you mean "cherry picking a-hole" then I'm your man.

If by good you mean good then AC might be your man.

You only have 13 full-time players? How are your turnouts? We have 18 full timers and still seem to be playing with 2 lines every night.

Pretty good actually. We get lots of complaints about the fees with only 13 players, but nobody wants to play with more players than that, either.

Personally, I'd rather have higher fees, but know that we'll never have more than 3 lines and 4 defensmen. HNA is $9100 per team, so it looks like this guy goes with 16 players. Which means 3 lines, 6 defensmen, and an extra player if everyone shows up.

Think about the hours though.

Even at $700 for 30 games, thats $24/game for regular season games, less if you play playoffs. If you play two hours, which is roughly what we always did, it comes out to around $12/h. That is an insanely cheap price to pay for 2 hours of good times, exercise and hockey.

Yeah, more than 3 lines in rec hockey is a waste of time.

wow... i thought ice was expensive in kelowna - i guess i'm wrong.

i run my men's team and this year i'm charging $520 for 30+ games (+ playoffs) and that INCLUDES our new white jersey and matching socks (we did have some funds from last year that i put toward league fees... approx $80/guy)...

we have 2 colour names on names bars on the back and 3 colour 12" numbers (all done in pro twill) all in the flames font!!

it does help that i produce the jerseys myself (the perks of owing my own embroidery company) - but i still find almost $700 quite high to play in a league... maybe i'm just cheap! ha! ha!

i hope for that amount of $$ you aren't stuck playing too many late games! we play any night of the week and have 'puck drop' any time from 6pm to 11pm. we don't get many late games - maybe 4 or 5 a season and have never played on a friday.

the worst last season was we had to play thanksgiving monday... you want to see 2 teams in slow motion! ha! ha! we also had to play on valentines... that didn't go over very well with the mrs!

Larf, as if I do anything but cherry pick!

But seriously, I can't skate to save my life.

Now that I think about, you guys must have a lot of uncommited players. To have 2 lines per game you'd have to have at least 8 players miss each game. I mean we have games with 3 or 4 players out, but usually it's 1 or 2.

This summer we went with 14, and there's been 3 or 4 games this summer where I've been checking my email all day, hoping one guy will drop out so we don't have to go with 5 defensmen.

If anybody knows of any of these uncommited players, I'd like their number, so I can make a bigger team, with lower fees and still play with under 13 players.

HOLY SHIZZZZZZ and I was complaining about 5k per team hockey... hell all the players were .... Now this winter its 26 games plus everyone makes the playoffs for $4000 ........ I guess we should not bitch here in Oklahoma about hockey fees! Plus our games are only at 2 rinks and puck drop is always on Sundays from 2:15 - 830 ..... so never any late games like you guys... Yeesh!

We have a bunch of guys that work out of town all the time. Having said that, there are a few that consistently pay their fees but only play 10 or so games. It also doesn't help that the ice times are getting worse every year in HNA. Very rarely do we have more than two forward lines with four d-men. So yes, on any given night we have 8 guys missing. We charge around $500/ guy.
