Agreed. Pay over $200 for a pair of dress shoes and they'll last you for a while, plus you can normally have the soles replaced which extends their lifetime for years.

You're both crazy. You can get a good pair of leather shoes for $100-$150, just don't buy crappy doc martin knock off from Aldo. Now, spending ~$200 on boots is a good use of money.

I never spend over $100 on shoes, and that includes runners.
They always seem to last me a long time

Yup. Even if you clean your shoes they suck. Pay the $300-500 and they last forever
Same for a suit. Pay $1400-$2500 and you can never go back

The first thing that woman look at on a man in a suit are shoes.
If your wearing crappy shoes they completely dismiss you.

I have been avoiding Aldo for atleast 15 years - when I worked in retail (a long time ago), a colleague of mine bought a pair of shoes which literally fell apart the next day - the store refused to do anything...eventhough we worked in the store next to Aldo and Aldo's manager sold her the shoes

One thing we agree on.

You wear a nice custom suit and then wear crap shoes.

Yuck

A good deal for a decent pair of dress shoes are the Gravitypope brand at the same store. I think they are just designer shoes picked out of a catalogue, made in the same factory and then re-branded. I've got some wing-tipped black dress shoes and some black boots from there and I have to say no complaints.
Still have to be careful. I bought a $240 pair of Fluevog dress shoes and the heel fell apart literally the same day that I wore them.

I bought Prada and Armani shoes and they look new still.

Aldo ones are crap. Stuff chips off. Feel so ripped off, but learned my lesson

The thing that ticks me off is that I only go to Henry or Holt for suits, dress shirts, and shoes
The one time I went back to Aldo it was sh**

I like H by Hudson and Cole Haan. Not a huge fan of over-priced and shiny Italian shoes.

The only dress shoes I have found that stand up to my lifestyle are Rockports. Every other shoe I purchased lasted 6 months tops (some only 2 months). I've had these for 1 year and still going strong. You can find them onsale online for under $80.
