Default Favorite moments in sports

Obviously, the Flames winning the Cup or the 03-04 run particularly Game 7 in Vancouver is on almost everyone's list. The challenge here is to post something that you probably don't share with very many people here.

I'll start with last years Big Sky Conference tournament final. Most incredible college basketball game I have ever seen. Still gives me goosebumps when I watch!

Outside of my favorite teams winning championships, these ones are some of my absolute FAVORITES.

Schadenfreude rules.

"My two favourite teams are the Calgary Flames and whoever is playing against the Edmonton Oilers."

Therefore, my second favourite team won the Cup in 2006.

For me, my favourite non-hockey moment was this:

I was an Expos fan as a kid until Gary Carter got traded to the Mets. Little did I know then what misery was ahead of me as a Mets fan. In 2008, I went to New York to see games in the old Yankee and Shea Stadiums in their final season. The Mets game was against the Mariners, and I was able to witness an American League pitcher hitting a grand slam...That perfectly summarizes my life as a Mets fan.

Except for 1986 -- that was an awesome year for me as a sports fan.

Sask losing to mtl in the grey cup last year, that was a great game to be at

Also the 98 grey cup, great introduction to football and my favorite team with last second heroics

Obviously, the Saints Super Bowl and LSU's national championships, especially '03.

1990 Cincinnati Reds World Series sweep of the Oakland A's (my brother's favorite team )

Portland Trailblazers making it to the NBA Championship, that town was bananas!

I was there for this one:

1997 #1 Florida at LSU, LSU 28 - UF 21

Really, any game in Death Valley is special.

This capped off, in my opinion, the greatest individual game played by a football player. He was dominant and made me a fan of his. Awesome game with an awesome finish.

That was a great game. I was rooting for Texas big time myself.

Video removed, due to "shotdowninFlames" already did it. :P
Halftime, down 3-0
Rafa Benitez: Give yourselves a chance to be heroes
Penalties? The Dudek dance...wow.

And while it's better against the Canucks, the actual play here was MUCH more dramatic.

Who didn't feel like time slowed to a crawl, seeing that puck sitting there? Who's eyes in that arena did not light up the second they realized Gelinas was RIGHT on the doorstep? Who, a mere moment after that, did not go absolutely insane in that building??

EDIT - and when Terry missed that...that was a nightmare final for everyone who supports a decent team, and in most situations, I'd call Chelsea the lesser of 2 evils. But Man U weren't winning a 5th here, they were in for their 3rd (who's seen their 2nd? It's nicely up for permanent display in Liverpool), and well, Chelsea having 0 is always fantastic. I laughed, hard, and loud, when that happened.

Edit 2 - The Gerrard final won't play embedded. It's telling me to watch it on youtube....I'll just go for the DVD.

**EDIT: Didn't read the OP until after, about wanting lesser known ones.**

Just a couple from my childhood off the top of my head:

Donovan Bailey's 9.84

Joe Carter's home run(youtube yanked it, its an mlb.com link)

2009 ALDS - Game2. Arod ties the game up in the bottom of the ninth with a blast of Joe Nathan - this is my view of Teixeira's walk off in the tenth

Joe Carter hitting that home run in the bottom of the 9th vs. the Phillies to win the '93 World Series for the Jays. Amazing!

I was about 2 sections over to the left, perfect view for the touchdown. Even better having been at the big house for the MSU win the year before too.

There are better quality videos, but the crazy bearded yokel screaming into the camera near the end makes this one my favorite.

2003 Gonzaga Vs Arizona
To this day the best College Basketball game I've ever watched. Gonzaga was still just known as a Cinderella school, #9 vs #1. Blake Stepp just missed a little "runner" to win it in 20T

Gonzagas First Run 1999
Living in Calgary and being able to see what was going on in Spokane and on the Gonzaga campus at the time was something else. Put this team on the map, and was the biggest part in making them one of the most popular mid major basketball schools of all time. Of course "The Runner" Vs Flordia sticks out the most

AFC Championship Colts Vs Patriots
Widest range of emotions ever experienced in a football game, especially with the history between the two teams.

2001 Stanley Cup final (big avs fan) when Sakic gets the cup and immediately gave it to Bourque, that was a special moment.

Colts winning the Super bowl after giving up the TD on the opening kickoff.

Spain winning the WC this year.

ben johnson winning gold was pretty damn exciting as a kid.

Steve Smith, and where I was and what I was doing will never be forgotten.

I'll remember Gelenais against Detroit in Game 7. I'll also remember the look on his face when TB was awarded the Cup.

2002 Women's gold medal game, first and second periods, worst biased officiating ever in a big game and we still took it. I don't know if I've ever been the same after that.

Oilers beat us in Game 7 in 1991 OT. I was at the Dome and it went silent for a split second. The silence was broken by a guy down the ice on the balcony who stood up and yelled "Vernon you !"
