What a whore. I'm pretty sure everyone knows someone who has had cancer and this bitch was stealing money from right under their noses. She's got a nice reservation in hell when she finally does pass away from cancer.

She is the sad result of a ty upbringing, a troubled youth, and potential mental problems. People are a result of their experience. Hopefully she gets caught and then gets the help that she needs to become a contributing member of society.

Maybe the troubled youth, maybe a bad upbringing. But her dad did get her tested for mental problems.
I wish sometimes that we could get past people who have had troubled youth and a bad upbringing because I believe that we cripple these people further by allowing it to be used for an excuse for all the sh%t that they caused.
"Why did you rape that woman"
"My dad beat me"
"Why do you shoot heroin"
"Because mommy never told me she loved you"
Human beings have a great capacity for good and bad decision making, but at some point you have to take responsibility for your dishonesty or stupidity or neglegence or whatever.
By giving someone like this girl a pat on the head and a hug because mommy and daddy got divorced and somehow it made her decide to fraud people, and actively plan and execute this fraud and then show no guilt until she was cause is B.S.
I'm just so sick of hearing about criminals making excuses after they're caught.
"I'm sorry your honor that I shot that kid, but daddy beat me up when I was bad"
Bullsh%t
We've all made bad decisions in our life, we've all done things that were outright wrong, but your past should never excuse your current actions.
If it did then Hitler and Stalin would be sympathetic characters instead of the monsters that they were.

That's a nice, sensitive response, but I am with CC - put a bullet in the back of her head and start over...

Wait a minute Vlad, I didn't quite go that far.
As far as punishment for this girl, I would be all for restitution a public apology to all of her victims, and maybe make her work in a cancer hospice with terminal patients for a year (But she'd need constant supervion cause she might fraud her way into theri wills)

Me too - the C word was invented for people like her. All that money people were willing to give could have been used for real cancer patients.
Screw her and her dysfunctional family - show me a functional one. Free Will trumps all excuses - end of.

I'm not sure what the sentences for Fraud under $5000 are, but she's charged with three counts after turning herself in:

Worst part about it:
Quote:
“What I did was wrong,” Ashley said Thursday night. “I was trying to be noticed. I was trying to get my family back together. I didn’t want to feel like I’m nothing anymore. It went wrong, it spread like crazy, and then it seemed like the whole world knew.”
|
I might understand if this was from a 14 year old, but it is pretty clear this women still doesn't get it. She is still playing the broken home card trying to generate some sympathy. "Trying to get noticed?" You're 23 damned years old. Grow the f up already and take some responsibility. At least the parents comments were there somewhat to balance out the article (although it is still partially their fault) - but she still sounds like a textbook sociopath.

I think Joe Warmington of the Toronto Sun summed it up best when he wrote
Quote:
But the part I don't understand about that statement is how you can believe anything after someone starts a sentence with "first off, yes, I did lie about having cancer."

I believe there's a special place in hell for people like her, and I hope she suffers karma's fate in this world.

I feel bad for the family, but they are not going to stand with her when she appears in court today.

I thought CBCNW was interviewing her this morning but I think they were interviewing one of the people she duped. It was hard to tell as I dont know many people who have gone through chemo but she seemed very young, very weak, and possibly slightly mentally handicapped - although that could have been a side effect of her being weak from the chemo, hard to tell. It was a very awkward interview from the looks of it.

Having known a lot of people that have gone through Chemo, its the one treatment that totally kicks the ever loving crap out of you.
Your extremely tired, your extremely sick, and because of your fatigue you seem slow and lethargic especially right after treatments.
when my Aunt was dying of cancer she stated in one of her last days with any strength that the #$@#$ing chemo was worse then the cancer. It was almost like watching her die and burn from the inside out.
Its a terrible disease and thats what upsets me about this girl.
