I'm OK with trophy hunting. In B.C. the government is doing an excellent job of wildlife management. If anything brown bears are too protective. You wouldn't catch me in a fur coat but, I wouldn't mind a nice bear rug for the wall; Especially one that comes with a story.

Who cares, they are scum. Why is it when someone kills a young person or goes on a murder spree everyone on here is quick to cry capital punishment but when it comes to animals they are not people they are just animals right? The human race is so twisted.

It has nothing to do with superiority, it as everything to do with the belief that all things are equal in their right to life. How is what they do any different then murdering your friends or family and stuffing them and propping them up for decoration in their home? You must have misinterpreted my post. I agree that the human species is in no way intrinsically "worthier" than any other animal species, which is what I pointed out - we are also members of the kingdom Animalia.

It's quite likely in our genes to feel less remorse for killing and mistreating non-humans than for killing and mistreating humans, and thus see it as a lesser offense. The closer two individuals are genetically related, the more they care about each other's welfare as a general rule (the closest being parent-child relations in species which have few offspring). A gene which influences behaviour in such a way as to cause an individual to refrain from hurting a similar looking (and thus probably closer related) individual is more likely to be propagated in a population because the individual genes of the same type reinforce each other's likelihood of survival.

But this is not really a very good excuse for us in particular, because we have a much greater abundance of higher thinking ability than any other species on Earth, having such a large and well-developed frontal cortex. This means that we can override our reptilian tendencies and move away from genetically fueled subjective thinking.

You honestly haven't read that nearly every single post in this thread is very against killing for sport? I haven't read anything in this thread that sounds like that yet.

What do you eat for dinner? If you aren't a vegetarian, you kill animals every. single. day. All the time. You just don't want to look at it. The people who get the most disgusted by these girls are the ones that would probably be the most disgusted with the results of their own choices. It's one thing to dislike trophy hunting, because of the waste. It's another entirely to liken hunting to murder - especially if you eat meat. I'm not talking specifically to you, but it's something I've heard a lot lately, which I just don't understand.

You are missing the point completely. If you live and breath in the area and using the wildlife properly as part of your life. Then that is fine.

Flying in and shooting some wildlife and getting your picture taken with it is not fine. In my books anyway.

First of all, where did I say the polar bear suit was mine?

Second of all... Poachers? You don't know very much about the people who live in the arctic and their way of life do you? The community I live in was given 7 polar bear tags this winter to hunt legally.

You are such a tough guy surviving behind the safety of your computer desk, try surviving in -60 weather. Knowledge is a useful tool, you should try doing some reading on the topic before making such ignorant generalizations.

The government allows a certain quota for natives to kill yet they rarely do because they revere the bear and know it is not good to eat so stop telling b.s. crap to try and excuse the fact you are posing in the skin of an animal near the brink of extinction. Try surviving in -60 weather? Try surviving an everchanging habitat while being overhunted and driven near extinction. Any person can do a search about arctic life and see that Polar Bear coats are not the norm for the people there.

Communities fill their bear quotas here every year. Also, polar bears are not on the endangered list. Polar bear meat is eaten in the north.

I also live nUnavut and my wife is an Inuk, I pretty sure I know what the norm is.

It's not very different, but there are differences. It's not illegal for one.

I just find it interesting you want to kill them. Then someone will want to kill you. Then someone will want to kill that person. When will the killing stop?

Does the moral high ground really give you the right to kill them?
