That's the attitude of the new Rider fan though. Poke, Praud, Taunt, and than sit back and wonder out loud as to why people don't react well to it and pull out the old "It's not just the Rider fans". You can only poke and praud a bear in it's den for so long until you are going to get bitten.

That's what i've been noticing at McMahon lately. Calgarians have essentially taken an enough is enough attitude, and things are getting more confrontational.
What part of knowing exactly what was going to happen by that third post comment was taunting and insulting?

Because i was dead on that it would just be smart ass remarks?

Yup poke and prod is exactly what i did, lol, nevermind the 8-1 ratio of worse being fired back at me, we'll ignore that part and focus on us "bad" Rider fans....... Holier than thou right? Give your head a shake....

Being a Flames fan im sure i would have gotten the same negativity towards me by saying such things as the "Flames will tune the Canucks.."

You would if you went to a Canucks board and posted that. And followed it up by several posts talking about being undefeated, being the better team for the past 3 years, etc......

I don't mind the trash talk at all I think its hilarious. But obviously you can't handle it, so dont start a thread with trash talk and expect to get none back.

If you didn't have Jessica Alba as your avatar, I would be alot more upset about your constant rider's fanboy-ing.

As it is if I see "Riders" anywhere in your post, I tend to just start staring at Ms. Alba.

Oh i can handle it just fine, but call a spade a spade, and dont sit on high horses calling me the arrogant sob when things just as bad if not worse were being lobbed back...

I was trashtalking about a football team, retorts ranged from inbreeding to being a drunk, see any difference there?

hmmm, i need a stampeders car flag, maybe i should go on a canucks' message board and ask where i can get one. i'm sure i'll get a quick, civil and helpful response. or i could just use some common sense.

What do you expect people to say..... This is a CALGARY messageboard. Of course they are going to react.

This is what some Rider fans don't seem to get when they are at McMahon. You poke a bear in it's Den, you are going to get bitten.

Rider fans are the worst fans in North American sport. By far. Which is a shame, because that is a market and team that would otherwise have lent itself to the "little guy does good" scenario that could have had fans across the entire league get behind them on the rare occasion they do make the big game.

I've said it before, but I will never attend a game that involves the Riders again. There are far, far, far too many losers who believe that the only way to have fun is to go out and ruin the experience for everyone around them. And they do this both in McMahon and Commonwealth, and likely in every other stadium in the country too.

MJM's posts above sum it up perfectly. Nothing more than a large mob of drunk, disorderly losers who are an embarrassment to their team and the province they couldn't leave fast enough.

They are going to react because im asking where to get a pilsner hat??

LOL if that all it takes to set you guys off then you have bigger problems..

In any case thanks goes to the chosen few who went ahead and put their machismo aside to try and be helpful.

I'm just surprised this many people are passionate about the CFL outside of Rider fans. Most people I talk to in Calgary think the CFL is bush league and only like the NFL and NHL. Although by the sounds of it this rivalry might be keeping away as many people as it attracts.

Either way if you guys are as passionate about your love/hate for Rider fans it has to be good for the CFL because it gets people talking about the CFL.

This is what stamps fans don't get when they go to McMahon for rider games.

When 30% of the people their aren't stamps fans of course they are going to react.

A lot of this is relative to where you sit I believe. Just as Poison's uncle had a bad experience sitting in the 300s at a Flames game, people are going to mix it up a bit in the cheap seats at a football game. I've said this a few times now - I am a long time season ticket holder for the Stampeders and I can't think of any time where I've had a run-in with a Rider fan. I mostly attribute this to the fact that I don't sit with the rest of the orangutans on the outer edges. We are a civilized breed of fan in the middle sections (that includes the Rider fans around me).

It's not the Pilsner hat that ticked people off from the get-go, it's when you said "want to pick one up before the Riders tune the Stamps this Saturday....". If you left that out, you'd have a case...but, you brought it on yourself, so don't play the victim. You wonder why everyone piled on? This rivalry is a powderkeg, you should know that by now...if you don't want people coming after you, don't give them a reason to do so...

Way to go Rider fans. Ruin a good trash-talk thread by getting overly sensitive.

When I go to a hockey game in Edmonton (approximately 30% of the fans I would say are Flames fans), even though I think that Edmonton is a crap hole, full of dirty peolple, with a terrible hockey team, I don't stand up on my seat and shout it in their face no matter how drunk I get because I know what i'm going to create if I do. There's only one friggin fan base in Canada that feels the need to do that, and that is the Riders. You can pout and stomp your feet all you want. That's the way is. It's the same way in Edmonton and BC as their fans can attest.

Rider fans bring on the reaction themselves. If they had the least bit of tact, it wouldn't escolate to the way it does. Most people in Calgary could careless if they hoop and holler for their team. But Insulting the Stampeders, their fans, and the City they live in (ironically where most of these SK fans live too) in their own stadium is never going to go over well with the home team fans.

I love the over reaction and the holier than thou attitude that some stamps fans take on this issue that somehow they are not part of the problem down there. That just because you are a home team you have an inherant right to belittle the other teams fans without response. Walking through the concourse wearing rider gear means you are shouted at the whole game. I expect this because I am at a road game. At those games it goes back and forth and the drunks on either team refuse to back down. Usually problems start when a few stamps fans in the cheap seats start to get lippy when their team begins winning or losing. The entitlement that home stamps fans in the cheap seats have is surprising. Essentially they are in a road game enviroment in those cheap seats and should behave accordingly.
