ya it seems that it was forced upon him, things are starting to add up though
he had the quote yesterday
Quote:
Cesc Fabregas stumbled over his words when he dedicated Spain's World Cup victory to Arsenal's fans, players and staff, referring to himself as an Arsenal player in the past tense – "I am really proud to have been an Arsenal player" – before correcting himself later.
I had always thought he was going to stay for 1 more year, to me the situation has pretty much mirrored the Ronaldo/Real Madrid one and he stayed 1 year before eventually going.

But not so sure now
I wasn't so sure about him staying three weeks ago, but now I'm rather confident that he will be playing at Emirates this season. Basically, Barca don't have the funds. Wegner will only allow a player to leave after: a) he has done everything in his power to convince the player that their future (short or long-term) is at Arsenal; and b) he organizes what he believes to be fair compensation. Before the World Cup I was beginning to think that all that was left was b) but with Barca's financial problems being revealed and Cesc getting a taste of what it's like riding the pine, I'm starting to think Arsenal is even winning back ground in category a).
However, optimism in footy can so very often lead to heartbreaking disappointment...

I think he'll stay for 1 year, but it's pretty clear a big part of his heart wants to go to Barca. I would hate it, but no player is bigger than the team. If we got a boatload of money back and actually decided to spend for once, we could bring in 2-3 very good players and stay strong.
Arsenal's financial situation has me optimistic we will be a top team in the EPL in the next few years regardless of where Cesc is.
Barca = bunch of classless idiots...the way they've openly discussed this whole Fabregas situation is disgusting. Not much different from the whole Ronaldo-Real saga.
Are you sure? He'd still be watching Xavi I think.
Sorry, I was being sarcastic without green text. I've been commenting on the 'Fabregas to Barca' thing forever because he'd be third string behind Xavi and probably Iniesta when he stays in the middle rather than the wing.
I was continuously rebuked by the soccer oracles around here for 'not watching much soccer and not knowing what I'm talking about, because Cesc is the most amazing midfielder ever.'
And then he warms the bench behind those exact same 2 players as well as Alonso and all of a sudden the oracles pop up again saying his transfer to Barca would be bad because he wouldnt crack the starting lineup.
Funny, I said the same thing months ago when this first came up....
But I dont know what I'm talking about. Who am I kidding, I hardly even watch soccer.

I said he would start at Barca, never said you don't want soccer nor would I ever say that Cesc is the most amazing player ever
But the fact is that firstly Del Bosque doesn't manage Barca he manages Spain, Barca plays a much more attacking style than Spain does
secondly Yaya Toure started for Barca and is now at Manchester City
Iniesta doesn't play midfield for Barcelona he plays up on either wing, a midfield of Xavi, Busquets, Fabregas works and would be their 3 best midfielders

I wasnt singling you out, but yeah whatever. I know Iniesta plays on either wing, but he doesn't always play on either wing, when Xavi went through a stretch of injuries he occasionally slotted in and could do it again if need be.
Toure is gone now, so Cesc can maybe take his spot. I certainly do not understand the love affair with Busquets, but there you go.
Anyways, I have little inclination to spend much time watching the 'Barcelona Heat' this season, so there you go. Frankly, I hope they buy Fabregas and get him out of the EPL and then go on to trash Arsenal in the Champion's League again.

I heard about that Barca shirt BS yesterday with Cesc. Pisses me off, I am sick of hearing every day some Barca player talking about how they yearn to play with Cesc. He isn't going anywhere this year, so go play football and enjoy not getting paid Barca.

That was an epic dick move, but thats the Spanish for you. 'Class' isnt their strong suit as I think most who watched the World Cup can attest to. Now that they've won the Euro and the World Cups I'll be happy when they go about their 'France-like' way.

No worries, you're hardly the first and probably not the last. The song and dance gets old in every forum.
