in OT...bat in goal for win...ref comes in waving it off...goes upstairs...NO GOAL. Stick was above the crossbar. Then I lose in SO...NHL11

Oh, that will make for some suspenseful EASHL moments!
The E3 vids were amped up tremendously just to show off the engine. Defaut settings and online play will be tuned to a much more authentic level, so hopefully realistic heavy collisions show up at appropriate moments.

I had one goal from this years game where gaborik swung his stick like he was serving a tennis ball and knocked it in. I wondered if there would be a way to fix that. The animation was very cool looking and it's the only time I've ever seen it. I have it saved and would love to share, but EA's site has never worked for me and nobody ever returned my emails to get it fixed.
I hope they work on the GM mode too. Make it more in depth, better contracting, sensible prospect advancement, diamonds in the rough in drafting.
That's all I play.
Before all those things, I really want more intelligent GM AI. How prospects drafted in the top 5 just to end up in the UFA pool? Why does every team hold on to 8 goalies (or whatever the max is)? Why doesn't Henrik Sedin (and 5 other elite centers every year) get signed as a UFA?

Depth - Yeah...
Contracting - I'd at least like to extend contracts mid-season. I hate having games lag for 10-15 seconds each re-sign day.
Prospect advancement - Huh? Aside from a few players (COUGHdoughtyCOUGHjohnsonCOUGHchukoCOUGH), most make sense.
Diamonds in the rough - They do. It's called "signing all the unwanted high potential picks"
What I'd still like a UFA/RFA system to prevent taking in all those high potential rejects from other teams.
Yeah, the NHL games need some intelligence in their GM modes to be more realistic.
In NHL 10 I was using the Rangers in a season and was able to dump off an albatross contract by dealing Higgins and Kotalik to the Flames for Jokinen. That would never happen in real life.

They also need to fix the waiver wire rules. In the NHL, if you pick up a guy on waivers he has to stay in the NHL or be put on waivers in order to be sent down. In NHL10, they go right to the minors. You can therefore pick up anyone decent player on the waiver wire for depth and stick them in the minors until they are needed.

It's 2011, I can't understand why we can't have quicker roster updates, real life injuries affecting rosters, and up-to-date stats (i.e. star players slumping a bit in RL actually do suffer a bit skill wise in the game).
Why can't we have weekly updates that do all this when we sign on to xbox live or whatever.

They need to spend less time on a ridiculously stupid fighting systems and more time on the GM dynasty modes. Deking is silly and will only lead to more and more glitch goals. Increase computer player AI. Maybe have the ability for the computer team mates to play hockey like they actually know basic hockey drills.
There are games with advanced AIs like this already. Figure it out.
It is way too easy to rape the computer at will even on the hardest of settings because the computer is so incredibly easy to trick and very predictable.
Is it too much to ask that EA puts a real effort into their highest selling sports game they have?

That's incorrect. It's not their highest selling sports game. It's their highest rated sports game, but not highest selling.
Also, go around the video game world and look at AI - specifically, look at sports like basketball, soccer and football - the computer AI always eventually becomes exploitable. The fact that the NHL developers patch the game to better balance and try to fix exploits puts them WAAAY ahead of their peers in both sports games, and other genres.

While I agree with wilhelm about the GMing, I also understand that it is hard to implement all this stuff we want. If you want to play against real intelligence, go outside. AI is just that, something that I more or less accept.
one thing I would like is online GM Mode, but I doubt we'll ever see that.

have you ever done programming? If not then don't talk ... If so then ... go back to school. To cover the cost of this, you'd have to have people using it to pay subscriptions for it, and there is no market for it.
