Soccer is boring as hell.
I mean... what's so exciting about a 90 minute game which ends in a 1-0 score?
Not sure why half the world is so crazy about it. Obviously most soccer fans have never seen a hockey game.
EDIT : I mean... in the average soccer game how many total shots on net are there?...
Not really sure but I suspect it isn't very many. Just a lot of running up and down the field, a lot of players falling in agony every time somebody comes within 2 ft of them,
Basically not a lot happening.
The only real excitement is when somebody gets a free kick and a bunch of players from the opposing team all stand in front of the net trying to block the shot and cover their nuts at the same time.... sheesh.

Reason: fixed game time length..... yawn..... and some other stuff.

I like playing soccer. But only watch world cup, thats the best of the best. Watching them try to set the play up, some of the chances are amazing.
Aregentina trying to break Greece defense the other day was a good match.
I like soccer.

I think you may be missing the joke here.

Plus the games are 90 minutes, not 60. And then there is injury time, which is totally stupid, yet there it is. The game may be over, but they like to arbitrarily add a few minutes to compensate for the time wasted by divers rolling around in "agony".

It's all about the culture you grew up with . . . . . if you're in tune with the nuances and some semblance of history of a game, you'll find it more interesting than other sports.
I like watching soccer right now in the office, having it on the screen instead of BNN, the sound turned down and checking on it once in a while.
But . . . . . yeah, it is a little mind-boggling it's the fixation of billions of people. Then again, most of them would better understand the physicality and nuances of skill because it was the one sport they likely would have played as a child.

I find a 10-7 baseball game and a 98-105 basketball game far more painful to watch than a 1-0 soccer game. Scoring does not necessarily equal entertainment to me. I enjoy watching the build-up, the chances, the saves, and yes - even good defence.
I also love my hockey, but they are different games with different strategies.

perhaps soccer needs to use the same scoring system as american football
One goal=6
extra point after goal=1
ball going over crossbar=3
Each team scores one goal and they each shoot a few high ones.
Final score 16-10: that looks much better, a boring 1-1 game with a missleading point total to inflate the appearance of activity.
now they just need to stretch that over 3 hours with a whistle every 5 seconds of play with 45 seconds to stand and talk about the next play.

only interested because of betting.
One of the best things about soccer is that there are no commercials. unlike the NFL. I can't even watch a game live anymore. I pvr it and tape delay it by 15 minutes so i can fast forward all the commercials.

I like tennis, golf, basketball, baseball, hockey, football, and curling. I consider myself a pretty wide-ranging sports fan, and I can sit and watch almost anything whether it's fast or slow.
I can't watch soccer for more than five minutes, I just get bored. I realize it's because I don't understand it, but there's nothing about it that appeals to me enough to put in the time to get to know the game even a little.
That being said, MMA is one sport I will never understand, and I could see myself watching a full soccer game before I ever watch any sort of UFC event.

I find the pace of the game the worst part. There is no tension buildup when your own team will basically pass it back to their goalie from their strikers. Sustained pressure does not exist.
Moments of brilliance do occur, but you're lucky if it happens once a game.

I sort of agree, the CFL is like the WHL of football, a lower skill league that sees their best players leave for the NFL.

Those that don't like watching soccer are obviously missing the current Italy vs. Slovakia game.
