All I listen to in Edmonton is the Hot 101 or 107. They play good beats, newer stuff and most importantly... NO NICKLEBACK!

CJSW (the college station) is awesome sometimes. Was driving late at night and my iPod died (I rarely use the radio), turn to that station and they got crazy black metal playing. Sometimes it is really corny hippy music though.

They're retaining the format but becoming Vibe 98.5 Virgin Radio.... More concerts, more giveaways because they now have Virgin backing. It's happening on the 30th and there will be a party at someplace downtown to celebrate.

Apparently, next Wednesday at noon, Vibe becomes Virgin. I would expect very few, if any on-air changes.

Looking at the other Virgin stations' websites, Vibe's format seems to be very close to what they have in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal (when I first looked, they all had "California Gurls" in their last 4 songs played list). Ottawa is the only odd one out, with a more rock-oriented format.

Agree. Or get a Sanyo internet radio and stick to the stations that don't have commercials. I have had it for a couple of years and I keep hearing that it is going to turn into an expensive paper weight but it never does. CBC 3, NME, Bloomberg, Seasonal music, Virgin, CSPAN, BBC, FOX.....all there without Sofa and Bedroom Depot or Hot Tubs are fun etc. Driving in my car is when I need my ipod...Sports = Calgary Puck

The best station the city ever had was Mix 1060 or whatever it was called way back when. It hit all the right college/alternative checkboxes for me.

I was just going to say that radio died the day Mix1060 shut down.

X929 is currently my go-to station and I don't mind the DJ's ... except for Carly. I have a real hard time listening to girls that sound like that. To me it just sounds like she's trying to dumb-down her voice to come across as dumber than she is. Females on radio don't need to pull the air-head routine.

All you satellite radio lovers are gunna be hooped when those solar flares hit in 2013!

X929 is my go to in the car as well, I enjoy the morning crew and how they just go with the flow. No set formula like the crap you get on other stations.

What's with the AMP love though? Every time I dial onto it all I hear is some crap dance mix. I loved it when Fuel was around with X, life was good.

Anyone else hear that Craig Beharrel (sp) on X929 and his NHL rumors? Holy crap dude, stop it! You're embarrassing yourself. It's like he's pulling names out of his ass.

Otherwise, their music is decent. When I dont have sat radio, I'm usually listening to 92.9 or Fan960.

Anyone else notice how fast Mix 97.7 dropped the 'Pop, Rock & Country' format? (not that I listened to it)

Guess it really wasn't like having my iPod on the radio.

If people can like Nickleback and Susan Boyle, people can like remixes. I flip stations like they was pancakes. Love 90s at 9 on X, love the AMP Traffic Jam at 5P.

And then there's this awesome guy on the radio most weeknights on The Range...

Is that a Calgary radio station? Didn't even know they existed.

That format has been tried numerous times over the last 15 years or so, and was even relatively popular when Kiss FM (later Rock 97; Kiss FM - Hip Hop version; and now Jack) first came along. I don't think it has long-term viability because the formats are so different from one another that it's just jarring to listen to.

Lynch was calling him out on this a few days ago, just ripping into him and his ridiculous rumours.

A turd with a red ribbon wrapped around it is still just a turd. I don't see this doing much for radio in this city... Not that I care anyway - iPods, podcasts, satellite radio, etc. have made terrestrial radio damn near obsolete.

I'm 99% sure he just reads Eklunds site, as they show up here the same day!
