Found a cat at my Hotel.
So I found a cat at my hotel.
The poor little thing looks like he has been hit by a car. He has road rash all over he hind leg and looks like he hasn't ate in days. He doesn't look very old and is real friendly. I don't know what to do because as I'm saying this I'm getting choked up. Poor little thing will probably be put down and I can't get a hold of any animal places to take care of him since its 11:50 pm.
any Ideas?

Bunk down with him for the night, find somewhere for him tomorrow?
I kind of know what you're dealing with though. Today I came across a nice looking dog who was obviously lost. I was working so I was kind of helpless. All I could do was try and get hold of animal services, but they had me on hold forever. Thankfully a lady came along that was willing to help the poor guy out. He too looked like he had been hit by a car, and was going to get hit again if he didn't get out of traffic. I hope that dog's home tonight, or at worst, in the shelter.

Most cities have a 24 hour Veterinary Hospitals which you could take the cat to. I've yet to see a major city or town not have one of these. Where abouts are you located?
Otherwise, there is not alot of DIY care you can give to an animal you believe is hit.
There is a good chance it can be saved though if you can get it to some help. My sister is an AHT and she's currently got a cat that was found hit by a car and quite skinny and he recovered completely and is a very healthy, happy cat. His leg looks a little odd, but that's about it.

Call the front desk (without revealing the fact you have a cat in your room) ask them if they have someting like the meow foundation (a cat rescue organization here in Calgary) or some sort of animal rescue facility in town.
Either that or crack the phone book and find an SPCA (last option) that will take the little fella.
That's all I got. I hope this story ends well.

There's a CHANCE the police might take it. Call the CPS non-emergency number and ask them.

There should be a 24 hour emergency vet open assuming you're in a larger city. Edmonton has two, which i have used on a couple different occasions.
If you can, try not to up it down. One cat my fiance and I found outside that had been hit by car cost quite a bit to get fixed up, but after having her around for the last couple years i would have paid 4 times that amount. No sense in putting down a otherwise healthy cat that needs a few stitches that could have a good home/life for a few hundred dollars.
....Also take him in. You should be able to find some (crappy) cat food at a nearby max/7-11 you can give him. If he's friendly he'll probably be okay till morning. Wash your hands though because he might have ticks/mites.

Assuming you are located still where your location says, there is an Emergency Vet Hospital in your City.
Canant Veterinary Hospital (Emergi-Pet is the afterhours emergency place)
(205) 752-1309
1100 Rice Valley Road North
It's open Monday-Thursday 5:30pm - 7am so it should be open and answering phones. Just be persistant because they will pick up. Sometimes they are just busy with another animals but if you keep ringing the phone, they will pick up.

Thanks drury, I found a bunch of useless links.
I do work the front desk (killer college job). The police just came and said animal control wont do anything since it's not a vicious dog.

It's just an emergency vet. $125 for just a visit but I will keep that number in case I ever need it with my pets.

I've got a box that I can put him in. If he is still here in the morning I will take him to the humane society.

If you can, sneak some food and water out to it. Hopefully it can hold on for the night and you can get it somewhere tommorow.

Tuscaloosa is a big college town. 95k people in the city and something like 220k in the metro area. Birmingham is only 40 minuets away. Some cool things around these parts.

I gave him a bowl of water. Some guest gave him a bit of his McDonald's chicken sandwich. If he's hungry he will eat it. By the looks of it he is hungry.
I wish my verizon phone would let me upload pics to the interwebz

I'm a huge animal person. If I had more room I would take him in but I don't know how badly hurt he actually is. Plus I don't know how my cat would take it if I brought another cat in her house. Plus our two Long Hair Whippets will want to play with him constantly.
I just can't stand seeing the poor thing suffering like this.

Does it seem like it's in immediate pain?
Will it drink water? Do you have any meat you can give it?
Hopefully it works out. From a big cat person here thanks for putting in the effort.
I hope it works out.

I can't stand seeing or even hearing about injured animals. My house here in Calgary is a freakin' ZOO because of my "soft heart".
1 rescued rabbit.
2 rescued (feral (sp?)) Cats.
1 Adopted from a shelter Cat.
1 zu (sp?) rescued.
1 Yorkie ..... Not rescued,,, My wife felt the need to withrdaw $900.00!!
