We really need to see the impressions from the showroom floor.
Clearly there was some interference during the press conference.

Epic Mickey looks a lot better than I thought it would.
The side-scrolling levels based off of classic Mickey cartoons is an awesome idea.

These conferences always reminds me of how many killer IP's Nintendo possesses; Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Metroid, Donkey Kong, etc etc etc. Impressive showing by Nintendo so far.

Come on Ninty, you could have picked a better colour combo than black and blue. Yikes. Not sure if I dig the two tone.

Or two discs, or two different packages, or just a Wii version that WiiHD upconverts. I don't know, but maybe Wii games are scalable (like PC games) and 480p is just a hardware thing?
I don't know, I can't see it being that big of an issue. PS3 split Sony's installed base, Xbox360 split Microsoft's (heck, so did Xbox), Wii split Nintendo's. The Wii won't last forever (even though some grandmas might never want to upgrade). There will be a WiiHD, it's just a question of when and what it will look like. (I really can't see them not having HDMI out.) Now (or soon) might be a good time with Microsoft and Sony making their big moves into motion detection, and giving the classic Nintendo franchises their first HD versions would just be logical as you're probably gonna have the hardware to do it anyways. That would make a lot of sales. What's gonna be the killer app for the next gen XBox or PS? Marginally better graphics and the next iteration of Halo? More likely, they'll be more evolutionary than revolutionary.
No, I haven't thought it all through, and I don't mind you pushing me to do so. It was just an idea. I still think it's a good idea.

Are they going to explain how it works? Should I assume it's just the material in the polarizing glasses placed over top of the screen?

Yah, that's the only thing I'm really wondering about. How does it work without 3D glasses, and how well will the 3D effects look? Sometimes I get the feeling that the 3DS is too ambitious for our current technology. But we'll see. If anyone can pull off a successful innovative handheld, it's Nintendo.

Yeah, i wonder if it's something that can't really be demonstrated on the here but can be seen on the show floor. Curious for some hands-on reactions.

My guess on how it would work is that they used directional LEDs in the display to broadcast a video signal to each eye.

I'd bet the screen is an autostereoscopic screen that uses a parallax barrier.. basically there's a layer over the screen that's filled with tiny slits, allowing each eye to see a different set of pixels.
